Internal Door Measurements

My bf bought a new internal door for our kitchen but when he came to hang the door found it an inch and a half too short. Measurements on the door state is should be 78inches tall.

My bf has taken this door back to Focus and they have measured up another which again states it should be 78inches but is again short. When questioning the sales assistant he has been told that all measurements are approximate.

Is this right?? Surely a door should fit the door frame perfectly and i would have thought this would have been a universal measurement with some exceptions.

Thanks for all comments.
C1 = £643.17, C2= £60.51, C3 = £376.48, C4 = £331.58, C5 = £422.57

    nope.... not all doors are exactly the same, if the measurement is listed in imperial, then the measurement is approx, mainly due to EEC rules regardin metrication

    but the difference shouldnt be a lot..... half inch at most

    carpenters tip..... always measure twice and cut once........ :)
    smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;) :cool:
  • If the door says its 78ins,surely that should be the size of it,didnt your bf

    measure the"old" door before he bought this one.

    If the door from focus states 78", then it should be 78" give or take a bit! But not 1 1/2" difference!

    Doors rarely fit a door lining perfectly! I have fitted doors to new linings, that someone has put in, and they have been miles out...Always fit your own linings!!!!
