Painting the fence

How do I do this without removing my many climbers that grow up and on it?

And any types of fence paint better than another?

My only suggestion is to put plastic bags around the main stems etc and to paint very carefully. As regards a suitable fence paint there are so many on the market that you are spoiled for choice, choose a reputable brand and you wont go far wrong, they are all priced about the same.
