We are likely to exchange in the next 2-3 weeks and complete a week later....I want plan early and be prepared - to avoid stress. share of free hold
Hi, I’m in a process of buying a flat in north London (crouch end). 2 bed flat. I’m a first time buyer. The flat advertised as ‘share of free hold’. When my solicitor started to work on the agreement, he explained to me that I will get 1/3 of the free hold of the building (it’s a converted house to 3 flats) and there is a…

How do I see an old estate agent advert?
Not sure if this should be here or on the Techie board tbh so apologies in advance if I chose wrongly. There was a particular house for sale in Feb of this year. The advert was only up for a short time (and I can't remember what site I saw it on but I'd guess it was your move.) The house has now been sold and is no longer…

Hi All, I am looking to sell my house(within a few months). It has a secured loan on it for approx 9k. The house is worth around 240k and the mortgage is around 161k. All good. The question is, will me having the secured loan on the house affect my being able to sell it? Does the loan just get paid off at completion? In…

Repossession threat - not our fault!
Hi, hope someone can advise! My partner and I rent a flat from a property management company. They have generally been a bit useless, don't answer the phone, take ages to do anything etc. This week we received a letter addressed to the Occupier which was from Bank of Scotland. It's essentially a reposession notice, saying…

This isn't so much a question more a need to vent! So when my OH and i decided to buy a house we thought it would be reasonably straight forward! Is action against estate agents possible? What wd you do?
I am in the middle of negotiations to buy a house, and it appears that the EAs have misled me, so I am trying to work out what to do. Any advice would be welcome... This is long, so thanks in advance to anyone who makes it to the end! :) The basic facts are these: I am chain-free with mortgage in place and ready to go... I…

how to find private landlords/properties?
Any tips on finding private landlords/properties? I've given up on estate agents as they are generally useless and charge way over the top. The trouble is, most properties on gumtree are agency and there are only a couple of flats in the local paper whereas I require a 2-3 bed house.

House ownership and transfer of title
Hi all, I posted these questions over in the probate forum yesterday, but I've re-posted the question pertinent to a house here as the main question I have is regarding it and so this seemed like the best place to ask! My grandmother passed away recently and named me as her executor in her will with her estate being…

Buying refurbished house checklist?
We're buying a refurbished house, the vendor is one of those investors who bought old & run down houses to be refurbished and sold immediately. For this particular house he added the loft and added the 3m extension. Is there anything that we should do above and beyond the building survey? I was wondering how do we ensure…

A friends tenant moved out a month early (Tenant given 2 months notice) Everything above board and legal. The place is disgustingly filthy plus damaged. Floor area is wrong on floorplans. Should I reduce my accepted offer price?
I have been looking for a flat in London for a while. I finally found one I liked, and the thing that swung it for me was that the floorplan showed that it was more spacious than others I had seen. I put an offer on and it was accepted. I've now been around and measured the flat. Rather than 110 square metres, it actually…
