Specialist Subsidence Insurance Companies
I'd be grateful for a list of insurance brokers, who take a practical approach at offering house insurance when the property in question has slight subsidence, that requires minor remedial works and not underpinning. Thanks in advance.

Survey decisions
My husband and I are in the process of buying our first place and I really can't make up my mind about whether we should get a survey done or not. I've trawled through the board here but this just keeps making me change my mind even more! Some people say it's not worth it as the report just comes back saying 'may be signs…

Property Searches - What do they mean?
I've just been gathering solicitors quotes for the legal fees for the purchase of the house I've had an offer accepted on, and as a FTB was just wondering what the different searches are and what they involve? Some are self explanatory, such as Mining Search and Drainage Search, but I was wondering what exactly a Local…

Delaying tactics? What happens next?
Hi all I would be grateful if someone could give me some advice on what happens if a purchaser is deliberately delaying the completion of a sale. I sold my home in Oct 2010 and as of yet the sale has not completed. The property was leasehold, so I knew that it would probably take a little longer than usual to complete the…

Good article around costs associated with leasehold proerties
I have just read this - http://www.lovemoney.com/news/property-and-mortgages/buying-and-selling-property/11446/my-leasehold-property-nightmare- OK, it's a one-sided view from someone who it cost a lot of money, but it does give a good indication of what you could possibly end up paying for in a leasehold property.

We are first time buyers and currently in the process of purchasing our first home. We had a building survey carried out which indicated the house could have suffered flooding in 2007. Notice period in the 6th month of an AST
I've paid my 6th lot of rent today, and my AST ends in a months time. I want to stay there, and have had email correspondance with the agent to this effect. All looked fine and seemed agreed, but I haven't had any official paperwork. I know that legally it goes to a month by month contract, and that's what I want to do.…

Capital Gains help!!
Hi all I bought a house off my parents for £250k of which they gifted me a deposit of £65k. I am now selling the house for £300k and want to return their deposit and repay the £185k mortgage. Advice Needed – To upsize or not?
Can anyone offer any advice please? We are considering moving to a larger house and looking for some expert opinion. We have seen a house we love that was originally on the market for £270k.
