How long to receive contract etc from solicitor

We were informed last week the vendors solicitor would be sending a contract to my solicitor, following our offer accepted. It has been over a week and my solicitor is yet to receive, should I be informing the EA or give it longer as i am anxious to keep things moving along

  • Common delay. Don't panic.

The vendor may have told their solicitor not to do anything that will cost money until your survey is lined up...

    Or a slow sol.

So many people are being money-saving nowadays, sometimes they have to accept that if they want to save money, then time is the cost...
Act in haste, repent at leisure.

We had our offer accepted on the 9th March and our solicitor still hasn't received anything! I've been onto the estate agents about 3 times asking them to get the vendor to chase their solicitor!!

The solicitor can't create a Contract pack until the seller's return their completed paperwork and money on account so don't assume that it's always the solicitor holding things up.

Also the seller's might have told their solicitor to do nothing until they have a house to buy or mortgage approved.

    Are sellers buying on?

If so, have they found yet?

If not then you have your answer - they will instruct their solicitors when they are ready to proceed and it won't slow things down because they wouldn't have been ready to exchange with you until they were ready on their related purchase anyway.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

Ditto, except we've been waiting since mid feb... Mortgage accepted, survey done, quote for stuff brought up on survey done.
Still no sign of the paper work from their end.

48 hours max, unless the seller has been told not to. most conveyancers take days though.
My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:

My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o

Quick, good, cheap. Pick any two....
