Insurance for house that has suffered secondary flooding

We are first time buyers and currently in the process of purchasing our first home. We had a building survey carried out which indicated the house could have suffered flooding in 2007. Our solicitors have received confirmation that the house suffered from secondary flooding. I am now in a state of panic as i understand it is very difficult to get insurance on a property that has suffered flooding. Does anyone have any advice/or can anyone recommend any insurers. Finding it impossible to get quotes online. Also does 'secondary flooding' make any differnce from actual flooding from an insurers point of view?

    What is secondary flooding?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Isn't secondary flooding when something in the house breaks, eg washing machine, pipe etc and causes water damage ? If so, this is not the same as the house being in a flood risk area. Ask your solicitor to confirm this.
If this is the case then you will have no problems at all.

From what I've heard and read secondary flooding can also come about after the primary source of flooding has dispersed. One example I think is Kingston upon Hull which had a lot of secondary flooding cases that became apparent after the 2007 floods had gone down..

it was from the floods in hull in 2007!x Secondary flooding is damage that becomes apparent at a later date after the flood happened. You get water under the house causing damp etc

our house flooded badly in 2007. we couldn't sell it for love nor money but recently houses but have been selling again around us so we decided to test the water. . . .no pun intended and we accepted an offer on our house a few weeks ago.
The couple buying it had trouble with insurance were advised to try co-operative by EA as they had sold a house down road a few months ago and they insured it with them no problem. have been told that co-operative wil insure our buyers with no problems and not at a sky high price either, hope that helps.

    we're in south yorkshire (rotherham).
we've heard so many stories over the past few years from neighbours etc having difficulty getting insurance or their premiums going sky high. we were lucky for some reason ours hardly changed??? but some neighbours have a different story to tell. we've also been led to believe if you stay with the insurer you were with when it happened something was organised through government that you couldn't be overly penalised by your insurance provider but not sure if its true or not.:)

yeah i heard about that too but with us being first time buyers we don't have previous insurance and not sure the vendors current insurer are liable to have to keep insuring you. Ive just phoned Co-op and they said unless flood water entered the house they don't need to know. There online quote was only £30 a month too so very reasonable. Thankyou for your advice its been a massive help and providing nothing else crops up a huge relief!x
