Other estate agents ringing to sell my property

Is it normal for other estate agents to ring you to try and sell your property?
I am happy with the estate agent I have. I have had 17 viewings since being on the market since beginning of Feb. Had one offer which fell through last week because the buyer couldnt get a mortgage. Got someone coming for a second viewing on the weekend (so fingers crossed).
But on a weekly basis I get calls from other estate agents saying that they have loads of people interested in a property like mine and would I be interested in marketing with them. How do they get hold of my mobile number?

Yes, this is normal.
EAs want as many properties on their books as possible. They play the numbers game. Lots of properties on the books makes them look busy and successful.
I had a scumbag EA copy and paste the text AND photos from one of my nominated EAs and market my property without my permission. Luckily I wasn't overly nice to him and he withdrew the adverts within a couple of days.
Keep an eye out on RightMove, Findaproperty and the other property search sites for devious EAs doing naughty things.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
I don't know anyone who only looks at property from ONE estate agent in an area.
If they have "buyers" they'll find you.0 -

Assuming the OP doesn't have their mobile in any of the advertising relating to her property (you'd be amazed at how many sellers in my area of Scotland have), how would you reckon the other agents are getting hold of it?
Surely not from her current agent?0 -
OP why don't you ask them how they got your number? Mystery solved.
Also... call their bluff. When I have this I always say "great, talk to my EA and agree a commission split and then bring you prospects around" You typically never hear from them again

EAs are very sneaky people. My first EA, the one that I booted out after a couple of months of uselessness on his part and a couple of failed sales, spammed a load of companies with my mobile phone number, full address and name. I got letters and calls from removal companies and loads of other less useful companies.
I refer all the right honourable users of this site to evoke's first rule of property:
Rule #1 : Never, ever, ever, ever trust an estate agent.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Rule #1 : Never, ever, ever, ever trust an estate agent.
Counting the "ever"'s isnt that rule 4?
