How long before you ask the EA about interest
I was just wondering how long people leave between putting their house on the market and phoning the EA about interest, what they have been doing etc. My house only went on the market last week so not majorly concerned but should I start phoning them to check what they are doing or leave it for another week or 2.

Is the landlord responsible?
OK long story short we are having major problems with the kids of one of our neighbours this culminated the other night with one of the houses in the street almost being set alight. The problem we have is we know it is this particular child but cannot prove it. There are other instances of bad behaviour and damage to other…

Student House - Legalities etc.
Hi, Just a quick bit of info. Ive been speaking to some students recently who will be renting a house shortly for a year, at a cost of £300 a month each (4 of them) thats £1200. The same house would be rented to a family for around £450 a month. Seems like quite a good business to be in. What are the legalities surrounding…

house sale - no viewings...
We've been trying to sell our house for about 6 months now but have had 0 viewings. We bought at the end of 2006 for 92k and have spent roughly 10k on improvement since then including a new bathroom, flooring, doors, fireplace etc. The house, as I see it, is well presented and nicely decorated. Historically, our street is…

Credit Check when Renting?
We're hoping to rent a house for 6-12 months whilst the one we have just purchased is renovated. My question is how strict the MARAS credit checks are? I am in FT employment and earn £40k/year but we have a lot of credit card debt (which is the reason we are moving - downsizing to pay it all off) and we have also missed an…

'Resale price covenant scheme’- am I getting ripped off??
Is this really this easy???? I have just put an offer on my first property, which is available (via a housing association) through a scheme called ‘resale price covenant scheme’. Is this a ‘good’ scheme or am I about to waste all my hard earned savings? The scheme works like this, the property is ‘valued’ at £xxxk but is…

Renegotiation on survey results?
We have had a planner round to a house we have had an offer accepted on. The planner has told us to get a full structural survey as there are things he has noticed (some settlement, lack of window lintel (sp?), and others). We now anticipate these will be found on the upcoming survey and could cost us at least an extra 10k…

Bond returned - money deducted for cleaning
I'm having a nightmare of a time with this agency. Not only did they lie to me regarding agency fees when transferring from one of their managed properties to another now they've deducted £30 from my bond for cleaning. I left the property in a similar state if not better than what it was in. Do you guys take pictures when…

Opinions on *cheeky* new build offers please?
Hi I would love an unbiased opinion on this situation please: 4bed detached new build on the market for 246000 (off plan) There are a few available and I don't think they are selling too quickly. We have had ours valued at 135000 for quick sale (ie. part ex type price). For us to afford it we would need to find the balance…

Would this put you off?
I'm probably being completely daft here but some things have come up in our HIP which I'm worried will put our buyer off :( Our HIP was finally completed today and we have been sent a soft copy of it. 3 things have immediately sprung to my attention: 1. We are in a high risk area for Radon gas. First I've heard! We've…

Shared ownership question
Hi, I viewed a house which is 50% shared ownership. They said after 12 months I can buy the rest of the 50% or as much as I want. My questions are: Do I have to pay by cash to purchase the rest of the 50% or can I remortgage to cover the rest of the cost? Also, it says its a leasehold, does that become a freehold when I…
