Time to change EA?
My house has been on the market for seven months. We have had plenty of viewings but only one second viewing. The EA says the price is right and nothing needs doing to the house. Should I sit tight or is it time to try another agency? Comments please. ;)

Buy to let furniture idea
[FONT="]This summer I bought a flat which I intended to part furnish and let out to students. From doing some research it seems that most students will have a few things they want to bring to a property so it best to leave some space for their furniture. I didn’t have much money to buy brand new furniture but I was…

Renting: Installing SKY do I need permission?
Hi, I'm renting an apartment in a block and I've arranged for Sky to be installed. It was pointed out to me last night that I may need to get permission off the LA before I do this as Sky drill through the wall. What are peoples experiences of this? Do you think I should just get it installed and when I leave the apartment…

Landlord being repossessed!
We've found out that the house we're renting is being repossessed and the landlord has gone AWOL. The letting agency assure us that we are safe as sitting tenants and can't be evicted. However, they are muppets and I don't trust them. Does anybody know if this is true? The 6 month minimum term on our contract comes to an…

Can you help me sell my house - again!?
We are back on the market after our buyers messed us around (wanted money off for non existant problems and a fixed moving date and, and, and... ) and we are actually pleased to be rid of them :o But now we need to sell again, and in a slowing market (here at any rate) any advice you can all give on things that might…

Snagging List Disagreement
Our builder is currently working through are snagging list, but we have a disagreement over something. We have 4 spotbulbs in our bathroom ceiling (i think they're special airtight ones because of bathroom humidity), but somehow they keep filling with (big) flies who are getting in through the roof somehow. (It's a top…

Compulsory purchase order thoughts...
Just been watching "The Truth About Property" on BBC1. I thought - why should houses be compulsorily purchased for crap prices like £8,000 - and eventually re-developed and sold for £140,000 with parking spaces included for an extra £10,000, yet the only offer for the original occupants is to be able to buy back at…

Hi Everybody, I am living in a rented property for the past 9 months of which 1st 6 months was a contract through EA and last 3 months were informal, directly from the LL with a month rolling contract. I have informed LL about 2 months ago that I will be moving out. I am only staying for 3 weeks in last month and would…

Wondering how much to offer? -ftb
I've been looking for a house for a while now and have found one that I think is the "one". I'm a first time buyer so just want to check I'm doing the right thing! It's a 2 bedroom end terrace in Pudsey, Leeds. It's on a corner, and has gardens to 3 sides, and a large drive which is gated. The house doesn't need any work.…

Fuming
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum, but i need to vent! A friend who is working in a letting agency told me about a family who are on housing benefit and are renting out houses for each individual, and then in return renting it out to other people! I don't understand how that is possible - surely the council…

Lease extension/Time to give up?
This is a bit long - sorry, but would appreciate other people's views... Found our dream place about 3-4 weeks ago, on at 425k with 115 year lease, so we offered £400k, with thought that we might end up at about 410k-415k. Agent took about an hour to reject the offer, saying that the vendors were not likely to be…

My perfect house is imperfect
Hi Im hoping for a bit of advice. This may be a (very) stupid question but i've found a house I love but the sloping floor suggest that it needs structural work and underpinning has been mentioned. But the house has a cellar. Are you able to underpin a house with a cellar, or is another process used? What kind of cost…

Website that lists either plots being developed or buy off plan?
Hi Ive done a search but cant find it on here:confused: . Im sure I saw a posting on here for a website that listed plots of land that were about to be developed or had reached the 'buy off plan' stage. It included most of the major developers like Bryant, Wimpy etc but also a lot of the much smaller independent…

Will removing a chimney breast affect the saleability of a house
Considering removing the entire chimney breast in the house we have just bought. Main reason is space. It's a small 3bed house. Chimney breast runs up the centre of the house. In some ways we like the idea of having the availability of some kind of fire, but from a practical point of view space is more important, and we…
