Buying my Grandmas House!!
Hi All, Not sure if this is the right place to list this but I need some advice, my gran is soon to be going into 24 hour care, she doesn’t have any saving and she owns her own house, it's probably worth about £80K, if she sells it the Government will take her money and take £500 out each week to pay for the care. I was…

Whats the benefit?
Whats the benefit of actually saving up a massive deposit for a house? I rent at the moment and earn quite a lot... but also spend quite a lot! I have a 5% deposit... Obviously, If I saved a 10 or 15% deposit etc I would have to borrow less money and therefore lower monthly payments.... Is that the only benefit? I.e. could…

Buyers solicitor has a prob with our lease.
Dear All, I am hoping that someone can offer us some advise, please. We accepted an offer on our flat some months ago, and it has come down to the solicitor not being happy about the relationship between the Residents Association and the freeholder. He has put it to the bank and they have said no, they are not prepared to…

Two weeks ago tomorrow my uncle signed a contract for an estate agent to sell his Aunt's house (probate sale). Buy flat 250k - 2k F&F?
Hi there, I spend quite some time searching for an answer, however ... We offered for a flat in Wandsworth, London and the sale process is well under way - well, at least our solicitor started the searches. Buying for 250k will almost certainly result in a check over by Inland Revenue, so I want to get this right. What…

HIP question?
I am sorry to be a pain again - is the HIP mine, or does it belong to the estate agent or a solicitor? I haven't sold my house yet, the HIP is being prepared but I am not sure I want to go with the estate agent's solicitor anymore. They seem to have some hidden fees e.g redeeming my mortgage £95.00 plus VAT  Thinking…

Solicitors Forms?
OK, I wonder if anyone can help me. The standard forms that solicitors offices use, are they all different. Basically, a solicitor has sent me a sellers property information form which when I sell, I am supposed to fill in and pass over to the purchasers solicitors. It asks which fences are ours etc. If there are any…

Letting out Flat - Mortgage and Tax implications?
Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this as I’m a little unsure what to do about this and the solicitor I spoke to has only confused me further! I moved in with my other half in March, and rented my flat out for £550 a month directly to a friend. As I remortgaged at the same time, the lady at C&G said if she…

Being told his solicitor isn't in…

Confirming offer in writing
If an offer is made on a property does the estate agent have to write to you confirming the amount and the buyers' name(s)? My parents had an 'offer' placed on their house last week. The estate agent called and stated they would try to get a higher amount, to which my parents said okay. After not hearing for a couple of…

Making Payments Abroad

In fact, understanding the…
