Another question
I started a thread a while ago about being cross my buyers only let us know on 31st May that they had to give 8 weeks notice on their rented property. They put their offer in end March, and the reason the sale has been taking so long is because we've had problems getting our mortgage issued due to Abbey incompetence:mad: .…

Playing Buyers At Their Own Game.
"Buyers" putting in offers & then pulling out seems to be rife. I keep hearing it from all over the place. I've heard of buyers putting in an offer on 3 or 4 places at once, just to keep them free because they haven't made up their mind which one they want yet... - then pulling out of all the ones they dont' want. The law…

Indemnity policy?
We're in the process of selling our house - it was built about 50 years ago and the firm of builders no longer exists. When they were built there was a covenant on them regarding changes, extensions etc. Every house in the close has made changes/extensions. Our buyers' solicitors wants us to take out an indemnity policy in…

Freehold with maintenance fee - is it worth?
Hi, I wonder if it's worth to pay 200 pounds quaterly for the service of on site facilities. Is it a trend that developers use it to rip-off house buyers even they have completed the purchase of a property from them? Recently we have seen a property which meets all our requirements. But we found out from the vendor that…

Property and tax on gifts / inheritance tax...?
Hi, I've been living with my partner in a flat which is owned by his parents. The understanding has always been that the flat is ours in all but name (we pay the mortgage, which had to be secured on FiL's house as we were unable to raise one ourselves.) Now we're wanting to move, we face some trickiness in terms of capital…

Great opportunity
This is very complicated - so complicated I can't actually get my head round it! We have a semi that has increased in price considerably since we bought it - our outstanding mortgage currently stands at about £74,000 and we could sell it for around £400,000. So lots of equity in there. We also have a terraced house that we…

I know there's nothing…

Does this sound dodgy to you?
A colleague from work is thinking of buying a property from a cousin of his which I think sounds not quite kosher. He's planning on buying a house which has been converted to 2 flats, without planning permission. He wants to live in one and rent out the other. His cousin has apprently said that the conversion has been…

6 days between exchange & Completion, are we pushing it?
6 days between exchange & Completion, are we pushing it? We should be exchanging tommorow, every one is looking to move on the 12/06, as one party involved is going on holiday soon after. Is this Realistically enough time for the Solicitor to do whatever they need to do before completion? I just think our solicitor is…
