House swap - time frames?
In the current climate, we're lucky enough to have found a house where the owners want to downsize whilst we upsize. :-) We've both had letters from solititors saying they anticipate a completion date of 2 months time??? Is this a standard letter they send out? The solicitors are literally 2 doors away from each other,…

Am I being too impatient?
Hello everyone. I recently looked round a property advertised on a EA website. I questioned the EA as to why no 'For sale' sign had been placed outside the property. The response was that the vendors had not found a property yet, so were not desperate to move and were keeping the sale low-key. I questioned why the property…

Red Ash - how expensive a problem ?
I have viewed an auction property which has been almost completed by a developer, but is is now up for auction at a rediculously low price. I Need Help, anyone know anything about homebuyers UK?
We are looking at using this new company, it is called homebuyers uk and will buy your house without it going on the market. Sounds good, but have any of you used them or am i to stay well clear. Legality of withholding rent
Hey guys, First time poster, don't hit me too hard if I'm doing it in the wrong forum! Just a quick question. Sister is a student, renting a place with friends. What do I do?
Will shortly be putting an offer on a house but need more guidance on what others would do if they were in my position. Details as below: Property has been on the market since Feb 2005 and the vendors have been living there since 1979. I would guess that they don't have any outstanding mortgage. I've been through the "why…

Estate Agency Contract Renewal Fees
Hi, I presume this is the right forum for house related queries. I'm a private tenant wondering if the 50 pounds contract renewal fee is completely legit. It seems to me a matter of erasing the dates from our last tenancy agreement, photocopying an identical document and giving it to us to sign. So I'm wondering how to…

Homebuyers' report
Hi, I'm in the process of buying my first house, and want to have a homebuyers' report done on it. The price of the house is £202,000 and my mortgage broker has quoted me £560 for a homebuyers' report (including the standard valuation). Does this sound like a reasonable price? It sounds quite high to me. Also, would people…
