I'm going to be moving over to Jersey in a few weeks. I'm thinking about shipping some of my stuff over there. Does anyone know of a good, reasonably priced shipping company that would send to Jersey. Thanks for any help in advance.

5% on exchange (instead of 10% due to builder incentive) - and chaps question
If I request a CHAPs transfer from my account to my solicitor tonight, will he then be able to request a CHAP from their account in the afternoon to the builder for exchange of contracts by end of tomorrow. In addition, 5% deposit instead of the usual 10% on exchange of contract, because they are offering a 5% deposit paid…

Fire damaged council house
The house next to my grandmother was fire damaged (the roof partially collapsed) What do you reckon are the chances of getting the council to sell it as is? Where would one start in the council offices to find out? It happened months ago so I guess the occupant has been found alternative space I can see an opportunity as…

The situation is as follows. I have a flat that is currently rented out to tennants. Its the first time Ive done this so Im new to the game so to speak. Standard Practice?
Is it normal for a property to be removed from the estate agents' advertising methods when an offer has been made, for example mailing lists, shop leaflets thus stopping other viewings taking place?

Halifax UP 1.2% *gulp*
Surprised by that. I'm amazed at how there is such a direct correlation between int rates and house prices. If rates nudge up, house prices come down etc. People are very shortsighted, it seems, and look only at the monthly payback. Anyway, in the interests of balance, I thought I'd post this. But Halifax, with its…

Steel framed house
Hi Guys, I've got a friend who's put her 3 bed-semi house for sale for almost 4weeks but have only had one viewing since, with no offer, although her estate agent told her that he's quite confident that her house is very sellable. I have to agree, it is in fact in good condition, spacious, well-presented and in a nice…

Worrying report, repair estimates and what to do next
Hello everybody, I have received a homebuyers survey (which cost nearly £500! Ouch!) on a house I intend to purchase. I don’t know how to judge the report and would like your opinion on it. I don’t know if all these problems are “normal” and to be expected, or if I should be really concerned and perhaps move on, or take…

Do YOU need a fireplace?
Just looking for opinions really :) We have blocked up the fireplace in our house, for 3 reasons, 1, we don't ever use one, 2, we don't want the draught, and 3, to make better use of the space in the room. So, would having no fireplace in a family home put you off buying? edit: forgot to say, we have gas central heating.…

Negligent Estate Agent got me Clamped!!
Yep, that's right. I was house viewing last Friday and the Estate Agent told me it was safe to park in space #11 (we were viewing flat #9) despite the clamping notices. So I believed the guy as he was the experienced and knowledgeable agent but lo and behold, five minutes later - I was clamped. And so was he!! It was…
