Fire damaged council house

Options
The house next to my grandmother was fire damaged (the roof partially collapsed)

What do you reckon are the chances of getting the council to sell it as is? Where would one start in the council offices to find out?

It happened months ago so I guess the occupant has been found alternative space

I can see an opportunity as my grans house is a basket case, so 2 together would represent an interesting demolish and rebuild opportunity.

speak to the empty homes officer at your local council. if they dont have one they the person responsible for this housing.

will they sell? yes or no. some councils will adopt a policy of either yes or no. If its yes then they will want to know why you want to purchase and what you intend to do. they are pretty big on the return of social housing rather than selling to a developer. I would think it unlikely that they will sell for a knock down and new build.

If you can show you intend to improve the lot of the property and maybe your grans' then you will have a better chance. Your chance's will be even better if you dont have anywhere to live and you need a home!
