Has anyone found anything unexpected in cupboards/loft etc...on moving in?
Only moved 4 times, so as yet have not found anything... other than dirt and general mess.
(I'm a good girl... I ALWAYS leave place spotless... Husband has go at me for being too picky !)
Would love to find a 'treasure'... then sell it... !!!

When I moved into this house I found an old telephone in the cupboard which had been rewired so it would work on new telephone wires which I sold on ebay for £40 odd. I also found an art deco bakelite clock from about the 1940's which sold for £30 and a reel to reel player with a reel in it of Churchill talking. I sold the reel for £10 but couldnt sell the player as it was way too heavy to post and no buyers were interested in coming here to collect it.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

When I moved, the seller said they wanted me to make them an offer on the 15' x 8' shed that was in garden. As there was a garage as well, I said they could take the shed with them - as if.
Needless to say they left it, which was a pleasant bonus!0 -
I once found a used enema kit in the loft of a new house.
Another rented house had a box full of "mens literature" in the loft.0 -

Well, if the owners don't clear our new (unoccupied) house as promised, we will have, amongst other things: a cross trainer, an old Singer sewing machine, a drawing board, a victorian fireplace (in the cellar, not the hearth!) and various 60s vinyl albums. We're going to ask them to leave the fireplace anyway, as probably taken from the sitting room, but also quite tempted to suggest a discount on the sale price for disposal (owner is abroad) and then ebay/car boot the lot! May make a small dint in our massive renovation budget...0

oh, and in a previous house, in a very dark small part of the cellar we found a body...........until we realised it was a dressmakers' dummy. also 25 bottles of stinking homebrew....had to empty it straight down the drains as it was sooooooooooo smelly.0
