Bulb vs. Octopus import tariffs
I was surprised to see such a substantial difference in “green” tariffs! I’ll let the screen grabs do the talking but the post code and annual usage are the same. Safe to say, I won’t be switching to Octopus till things calm down.

Solar panels maybe with battery
Hi all, I'm about to move house this week and one of the first things I'm looking to do is get some solar panels fitted. From what I can gather I should have about 20m2 (squared) on a South southwest facing roof. So roughly 10 panels I'd be hoping for. I currently only use around 2500kwh per year. I live in East Sussex.…

SEG when your supplier fails
(I'm not sure which board to post this on so putting it here as it's about solar PV generation and the Smart Export Guarantee) We are with Avro and waiting to be told who our new supplier will be. I also had signed up for SEG with Avro. We went with them as we'd only just had the panels installed in the summer and needed…

G99 process
Does any one have experience with how long the approval for G99 takes with UK Power networks and what sort of cost is involved, if any? This would be for 6.6KW solar panel and possibly 4.8KW battery install

FiT if provider goes bust?
My FiT provider is Bulb. They are due a reading at the end of this month and every previous quarter they have sent a friendly "Hello from Bulb" email about half way through the month to remind me to submit a reading. But not this time, so far. This, coupled with reports of Bulb being in financial difficulty, has left me…

Octopus Outgoing Agile
Why aren't more people on this export tariff especially considering current wholesale prices? I've written a script to work out potential profit from using the half hourly outgoing rates against my assumed export, and it's already at 78p and we are only half way through the day, on a 4p/kwh SEG that would only be 20p so…

Cheapest home storage battery options?
Every time I talk to a solar installer they all keep asking if I've considered battery storage, this easily adds £1000 to the quote but as I'm going down a different route of buying my own equipment and paying an electrician to install it, does it make more sense? Should I buy a hybrid inverter even if I can't afford the…

Solar panel quote East Anglia
Finally getting the ball rolling on installing panels. My roof is a bit odd https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6286173/roof-orientation-and-panels I have had one company out and they have suggested 7 x 340W panels, split at 3 and 4 panels, along with inverter. They have quoted me £ 4300. This to me sounds…

Solar Panel Ownership
Hi Help needed! I bought my property in 2018 with solar panels, I wrongly assumed that ownership would transfer to me once the sale completed. 3 years on the vendor is now stating they still own the panels and I should provide them with meter readings. It was never mentioned by my solicitors when I was going through the…

Any user experience? Are Uhome batteries ok? Any user experience? Quoted price is circa £9k fitted for the 15 panels, 7.2kw…

House purchase that has Solar Panels (and a backwards running Electric meter)
I complete the purchase of a house in 2 weeks that has solar panels that are part of the sale.. I spoke to the vendor today he said that sometimes the meter runs backwards and that he has been submitted fake readings as the energy company won't accept readings lower than the month before... Not to me this feels like…

New PV system (dormer windows)
Hi all, I recently moved house and whilst my roof faces more or less directly south, I wanted to ask about anyone's experience with dormer windows, how much is lost because of the shade that they cast over the roof....my last house had 16 panels which were 1.65m x 1m and I'm thinking at best I could get would be maybe 12…

Green Homes Grant Scheme Help Please - Installer will not be able to complete work
Does anyone have ideas, please? I had a letter from my external wall insulation installer today saying that they would not be able to complete the work by the Scheme's deadline of 31 October. Solar Panel installation basics
Hi, I'm in the very early stages of researching fitting solar panels, so really looking for some pointers. Apologies if wrong forum thread I have a large south facing roof, situated in south of scotland, no trees obscuring roof. As both myself and family are almost always in during day and also work from home, is it really…

Solar panel bird proofing required
We currently have a problem with pigeons roosting on our roof and getting under the solar panels so I'm looking into the best way of preventing them getting under. I've had a couple of quotes to fit wire mesh around the edges ranging from £500 to £800 which at first sounded a bit steep. Do these quotes sound ok and is wire…

Smarter Homes unsolicited phone call
I've just had a call on our landline from a "Mr Watson" at "Smarter Homes" (I only have his word on both those points) trying to convince me to have my solar panels inspected for safety and efficiency. I've no prior relationship with Smarter Homes (despite Mr Watson claiming otherwise) so I can only assume this was leading…
