Saving energy - turning things off at the plug
I'm trying to reduce the amount of electricity we use by turing things off at the plug rather than leaving them on standby. Someone I know told me not to do this with the Sky box as it will break - I think because it has to re-set itself everytime it's switched back on. Anyone know how true this is?

Supermarket deliveries?
In a recent thread someone mentioned supermarket deliveries being more environmentally friendly than driving individually to the supermarket. Unfortunately one has to pay for this but it could still be money saving depending on how far you would have to drive to the shop. In the old days (or at least in my mum's old story…

Do supermarkets have a responsibility to be green/ethical?
Following discussion in another thread, I would like to pose the question, “Do supermarkets have a responsibility to be green/ethical?” Some people would argue that supermarkets are only responding to demand and that it is up to the consumer. Others might argue that the supermarkets do not give them the information and…

Freezing animal fat
I've been saving my animal fat residue for a few weeks due to the excellent advice on this board! But I don't want to put it out at the moment as I think it'll melt and/or become rancid in this heat before it's eaten. Does anyone know if it can be frozen and kept for the autumn?
