I've gone throught he carrier bags thread but can people tell me where they have got cotton/jute/string/fabric bags from recently that haven't cost a lot. I'm really thinking of £3 or less per bag if possible or am I being unrealistic.
Thanks

i dont think you will find string bags for under £5, usually more like £8. however you should be able to a fabric/canvas bag for under £5. try markets, shoefayre, places like that. but dont expect them to be ethically made, for that price
the only way ive found to get them at a reasonable price is to buy wholesale. so try and get all your friends/family to get in on the deal.
if you want cheap fabric bags, try making them yourself. there are lots of free online patterns for bags, so the cost per bag, depends on how expensive the fabric you buy is. i would expect no more than £1 per bag

I got one of my bags free from the energy saving people together with light bulbs and wads of paper for cheap lights, compost bin etc. Must see if they still do it as I could do with another. The drawback is they have a slogan on which has not yetwashed off.
I alaso have a Body Shop one which was given to me. I am not sure if they still do them or how much they charge.0 -

The fair trade string bags are £3.70 for the normal ones and £4.30 for the ones with long handles, both excellent. All the fair trade stuff is here.
