Standing charges doubled
Can anyone explain why my energy supplier has more than doubled the daily standing charge on my electricity bills. I am well aware that the usage kwh charges are going through the roof, but why the standing charges? Is this not profiteering as it has nothing to do with energy consumption/use?

Moving house End of April 2022 - Gas/Electricity Help
We are moving into our new house on the 29th of April and with everything changing with Gas/Electricity I don't know what to do. I think the electricity is a prepayment meter and Gas is direct debit. Both with EDF Energy. Are we best just to stick with EDF for the time being? Or are able to still change supplier? I can't…

OVO Tariffs Query
I've just moved house and our supplier is OVO Energy for both gas and electricity (South region). The tariffs for their standard variable rate plan (Simpler Energy) as of April 1st seem strange and go well above the price cap. Are these correct? I have just spent the past 30 minutes in tears as the gas is way more than I…

How can I upgrade my water boiler to save money?
Hi everyone! I bought my flat back in September and since, I have been using a lot of electricity. Even if all the radiators are switched off all day (we have electric radiators) and barely use lights, TV etc., we are using about 18kWh (£4) of electricity a day. I think it might be because our hot water boiler my be…

British Gas - Switching Business to Residential - No one will take us on!
Hi All, wondering if there is anyone out there who has been in a similar situation. I recently moved into a house and as it was officially a convent (a small one) it has been on a business tariff, which I wasn't originally aware of. Now I've been trying to get British gas to set up my account and switch me over to…

Me and my partner recently moved into a 2 bedroom flat and have been experiencing some questionable behaviour from the heating. New Gas Boiler
I am due to have a new Gas Combi Boiler fitted next month but am wondering if I should hold off for a while or even look for an alternative solution. Does anyone have experience of having had a Power Diverter fitted to their solar panels? If so are you noticing a saving on heating your water? I have been quoted £400 + vat to have an Eddi fitted. I am just looking to maximise the amount of solar energy I am using rather than exporting back to the grid. For example today…

Is it possible for home owners to buy energy in advance?
Does anyone know if it is possible to pre-pay for energy in advance? I don't mean putting credit on a smart meter per se, but buying e.g. £1000 of energy at today's prices and consuming that energy over the course of 6-12 months? If one accidently gave an overly estimated meter reading it would have the same effect but I…

Trouble getting export meter fitted to replace SMETS1
I thought the timing with which I ordered a solar install couldn't have been better. Component prices were cheap, and then the whole cost of gas increase started in earnest. I am due to have solar fitted in April. But then companies started going bust and mine, Bulb, went into special administration. My installer told me…
