Just moved house - energy supply
Hello! First time poster ☺️ My husband and I have just finally bought our first home after years of saving. We have a 14 month old baby. We completed in the last week of September. I established our supplier is Octopus and contacted them to advise them we have moved in. They have sent me two tariffs as an option. I am…

CIO of Neon Reef on R4 Now!
The Chief Information Officer of Neon Reef, Andy Harris, is on Radio 4 right now (0715). He's talking about the SOLR and how all smaller suppliers are facing similar problems. He didn't say much of substance, but he certainly wasn't announcing the demise of his company.

Ofgem- do they lower the cap??!!
Ok so now the cap has been in place for a while now. Companies have pretty much increased their rates to the cap making everyone's bills more expensive. (Similar to the min wage-"I don't have to pay you more than the min wage so f#@k off"). I'd imagine that next year's fix term tariffs finish and it'll be the same tariff…

Fixed price deal tariff being increased
Hi I signed up with octopus energy in July on a fixed price deal and today I have received a letter saying my tariff is increasing. Surely the whole point of fixing is just that? It even says on my original letter that my tariff won't increase until 2023. Do they have the right to do that? Thanks

Omni Energy fails...
... to be the 13th energy supplier to go bust this year, as they predicted. They need to get in line. I suspect there is Ampoweruk, Goto Energy, Bulb all waiting in the wings too to name just a few, all with huge financial problems of their own. Others like Logicor, and Neo Energy who are not onboarding new customers can't…

How to find meter readings?
I know this is such a basic question but I honestly don't know which numbers are the right meter readings! We've had a smart meter for years so we used to take them from that, super easy, but since we joined Pure Planet a few months ago, the smart meter disabled itself. I've just tried to get meter readings after seeing…

Free boiler scam?
A relative claims to have had a free boiler fitted, even though they are not on any kind of benefit. On the basis that there is no such thing as a free lunch, I assume this is some kind of scam. Has my relative been scammed? If so, how? Or is the contractor scamming the government in some way?

Heat pump advice
Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before. Are heat pumps actually any good and what are the ball park costs? we had someone around today and were told we’re eligible for the RHI payment from the government. The system was a Mitsubishi heat pump and Mitsubishi also give £800 as a one off payment. I’m awaiting the actual…

To Switch or Not to Switch?
I was with PFP energy and have ben transferred to B Gas. In their initial contact the said my estimated usage was about 3 times my actual (based on my last house, we moved in April this this year) at some £300 per month. EDF are offering a fixed rate to October 2023 but I'm unsure as the monthly cost is around £165 per…

EON Next £50 Referral Credit!
Switch from Igloo Energy to EON Next started on Sept 20th went smoothly, just wondering how long after supply start date are people getting the £50 referral credit added to their account? I just asked them on Twitter and they said 90 days after supply start date which seems a long time compared to others where it's like 30…

Insulation Grants?
Hi, I see the government is saying to Insulate Britain that there is money (£1.3bn?) available to make homes more energy efficient. As someone that would like to better insulate their home, I would like to find a grant to help me do it. Is it possible at the moment to get a grant towards fitting insulation to an older…

EDF is billing me for a "final bill" 10 months after switching!
I switched from EDF to Pure Planet in January. I have only now received a "final bill" for gas and electricity even though at the time they refunded me my credit and said my balance was zero. To add to the confusion, they now claim that the original starting meter reading was "estimated" (how can that be?) and to add even…

Do smart meters get reset?

EON issues, advice wanted please
I have been a customer with EON since 2011 for both electricity and gas. I am at my wits end with them and have no idea what to do next. For the first few years I had estimated bills every quarter due to being disabled and needing meter readers to attend. EON agreed to arrange this but the readers never came (I am…

British Gas smart monitor alert
My monitor gives alert ‘gas supply disconnected’ I tried everything but the alert is there. I phoned British gas and spoken with Melissa. The constant answer was’ it is more then 12 months old so we can’t exchange it. I asked what to do with the alert and she suggested to disconnect the monitor completely. I told her that…

New home - electricity supplier query
Appreciating this might seem like it’s been answered hundreds of times but I’ve just moved and the default energy provider is a 100% renewable one. I just want to confirm that the advice is still just to stick to the flexible rate that they offer and not fix it?

Maximum price per kWh
I read a lot about the Price Cap for energy costs. But I cannot find anything what the maximum price per kWh (Gas and electricity) is that I can be charged under the Price Cap.. I know exactly the number of kWh we use, both for gas and electricity, but I do not know what is the maximum price my supplier can charge.

EDF smart meter not updating or sending
Hi We got a smart meter with EDF back in August. As of Sept 26th its sent no meter readings to EDF (according to the energy hub). Our fixed term also ended on 1st october and our tarrif increased substantially but our meter has not updated so we are seeing the old tarrif. I was really relying on the smart meter to tell me…
