Boiler Cover (That never was) - Scottish Power
So.....where to start?!?! When I purchased my home back in Aug 2015 it came with an old looking boiler. Given we had just switched to Scottish Power to provide our gas and electric I decided that getting some boiler cover would make sense. So I called SP who told me an engineer would come out and take a look. About a week…

33% increase in bill Npower
Hello, This is my first time posting, but we are desperate for some help in regards to Npower and their increase in billing. So we're a bunch of 5 students living in private rented accommodation. Bills aren't part of rent so last year we decided to go with Npower after the previous tenant went through Spark who went bust.…

E7 meter - Night readings consuming electricity during day - help
Hi an electrician came to change one my my storage heaters. He informed me that the heater is consuming electricity during the day and it should not be as it should turn on during the off peak times (12am-7am not sure exact hours!). I have contacted both Npower previous electricity company and Bulb and neither were of any…

Cheap Energy Club
Have used this facility for several switches over the years but have noticed the system has become slow and broken over the last two switches. It may be of significance that both switches were tariff changes and staying with the same provider. However, the second from last took an absolute age to complete and get the cash…

Three tariff electric meter
Hi There Our house is 100% electric, always has been and always will be due to its location away from mains gas infrastructure. We have three electric tariffs on two supplies, day, night and a control rate. This makes it very difficult for us to use any comparison sites to get competitive comparisons. Should I consider…

Change of Bill Payer
Hi All, Due to suffering a stroke my Mother whom I lived with has had to move into a Nursing Home. We've just now received the Deputyship and are looking to get the gas and electricity bill put into my name (or rather a new account at the same address) but Scottish Power have been a bit unhelpful so we're now looking to…

Replacement boiler for highrise
Do you know of a company that will replace boiler in a high-rise flat? EON have said no due to it being on the balcony and new regulation on combustible flute, it's such a shame as they had a 2 year interest free option. If you know of a company that can help it would be truly appreciated.

Energy bills in Netherlands?
Hi. This is a bit of a random question, but does anyone know anything about how to challenge energy bills in the Netherlands? I have a friend over there who has been sent a ludicrously large bill (several thousand euros), and she doesn’t know who to speak to or how to challenge it. She’s very distressed and has got to the…

EDF Warmwise
Hi All Today I had my Nov - Jan electricity bill from EDF which was for £277. £188 was for my heating. I queried it because it seemed exceptionally high. I live in a small one bed flat that has underfloor heating which is why I am on the Warmwise tariff, similar to Economy 7, for my heating and hot water. My question is,…

Outfox the Market
Beware, they do not spread the cost of your energy over the year as they charge twice as much each month in the winter. You may as well stick with normal quarterly billing and keep your money in your bank account rather than theirs. Customer service via chat is abominable.

Prepayment Meter in Credit Mode?
Hi all, I have been a follower of the forum and it has helped me many times in the past - however this is my first post for help! I am a new homeowner, recently moved into my first property that has a prepayment meter for the electric (normal credit meter for gas). EDF for Electric and Scottish Power for Gas. It has became…

Spark (now OVO?) Electricity
A bit of background. My girlfriend moves into a tiny single bedroom studio flat in October 2018 and we both searched for a cheap electricity company. All the flat has is electric and it's basically a small kitchen/living room and a bedroom just big enough for a double bed to fit. The company we found was Spark. We are both…

SSE. Letter. Your energy meter has expired.
I have received a letter from my current electricity supplier, SSE, telling me that my electricity meter has expired (odd terminology) and needs to be replaced. I appreciate that meters do need to be replaced from time to time, but the current meter was only replaced around 10 years ago. I am sceptical of this letter as…

British Gas Smart Meter
I have been on a prepayment meter with British Gas for a number of years. Both Gas & Electric. I no longer owe them anything. And haven't done for about 6 years. I recently asked them to move me back onto a credit meter and they refused due to my credit rating. They are coming today to install new "Smart Meters". Will this…

OFTM - unfair terms re. meters?
Ofgem switched me to British Gas after my supplier went bust. BG are expensive and so I'm looking to switch. Outfox The Market (OFTM) seems to offer the best fixed deal. However, there are two clauses re metering in their T&Cs that worry me, viz: 10.6 We are allowed to install, maintain, read, disconnect, repair or replace…

Boiler fault, new property
Looking for some help, a novice to all of this... Purchased a property a few weeks ago, the boiler (Glow-worm flexicom) has a Fault F1, a google search tells me I need to get someone out? I don’t have a policy or warrantee for it, it’s about 2/3 years old I believe. Should I get a policy that includes them coming out to…

Charged £1000 catchup bill from energy provider after they have gone into administration, what are my options? I was with them for 2 years, my bill was low but they was the cheapest by rates so I was happy. They installed a smart meter and took my initial readings, told me the smart meter would allow them to pull ‘to the…

MSE Energy Club incorrect Outfox The Market Quote
MSE Energy Club has an error on current Fixed Rate for Outfox The Market deal. It is quoting the Electric Unit Price & Standing Charge the wrong way round making the quote appear over £100 cheaper than it is. Pretty poor just hope some people haven't made a decision on incorrect data.

Variable Direct Debit from Energy Companies
Hi, Does anyone know why energy companies cannot do a variable Direct Debit to clear your account every month in the same way your mobile phone or internet provider can. I would prefer to pay my Gas/Electric every month in full like I do with all the other bills (Never a borrower nor lender be..) I can see the flat monthly…
