Superfast fibre broadband - why line rental?
I live in a community of 32 houses. The residents have each paid for an upgrade to fibre broadband to each property as BT were unwilling to upgrade the serving cabinet. Unlike most of the properties in the village where fibre goes to the cabinet and it is copper from there to each house, we are getting fibre from the…

Cheap Energy Club price accuracy?
I'm coming to the end of my current tariff with British Gas and have started researching my next deal. I'm a little confused/concerned that the figures that appear aren't accurate. My projected new tariffs from the BG website are at least half, sometimes two thirds of what the Cheap energy club says. Obviously it is hard…

Warm Home Discount Criteria
Does anyone know why different suppliers have different criteria for the "Warm Home Discount". I'm a full time carer on low income supporting an elderly mother who receives attendance allowance. EDF says I don't qualify but First Utility says I do. The government provide a list of suppliers along with their conditions.…

Can't switch electricity
I've just moved into a new build apartment block and it turns out I can only buy electricity from my landlord (a large investor type). Something to do with the building set-up. My tenancy never mentioned this and I'm pretty sure the rates aren't great. Anyone know what I can do or how common this is? Feels a bit like a con.

Electric heating options
Hi, I've just bought my first property, a 1 bedroom flat, and am considering heating options. I can't have gas or oil, and at present there are storage heaters. The one in the lounge is fairly new and I've been told is fairly efficient, but the one in the bedroom is older. Am I likely to be best keeping them or is there…

Flow charging us £250 for gas in July
I switched to Flow energy in July, and was just checking my statements and was horrified to discover that for the month of July (One of the hottest I can remember, so definitely no heating or fire as being used!) i have been charged £250 for gas. (For the months of August, Sept, and Oct, I've been charged on average £15).…

Electric domestic water heating
Hi Guys, Looking for a bit of advice please. I currently have a one bedroom flat that has a massive square hot water tank heated by immersion but I have really poor water flow so I’m looking to change this. Is British Gas Still The Cheapest?
Just moved into a new house which currently has British Gas for gas/electricity and also British gas for FIT of the solar panels. I remember seeing martin Lewis say British Gas was actually the cheapest in October on the 'HomeEnergy Plus Boiler Cover Dec 2019' tariff (Not sure of that is correct). Wasn't sure if it's still…

Makewarm Problem
Hi - I just wonder if someone can advise, last year my parents bought a new boiler from a company called makewarm (they have since stopped trading), the boiler/wiring is faulty and they are now planning on shelling out hundreds of pounds to have it fixed - do they have any come back at all considering the boiler is less…

Left with no supplier..
Hi, I'm having problems with my previous and current supplier. I used to be with British Gas (for both gas and electricity). In March 2018 I switched to Solarplicity with both gas and electricity. My gas account has been successfully open with new supplier however my electricity account still hasn't. British Gas has…

2 Companies collected DD's in same month
This is very annoying, new supply starts 04/11, with first DD collected today 05/11. Old supplier knew about the switch as they emailed to try and stop me leaving yet still collected full amount on 01/11. I've a good mind to reverse it under the DD guarantee. No wonder people are not switching, if you are on a tight budget…

New Build home, energy bill delay! 7 months on.
We moved into a new build property in April 2018 and had automatically been registered by the developer for dual fuel with British Gas. I expected a bill for dual fuel within the first few weeks, which never came. I emailed in July chasing my bills, I was then advised that they 'had not opened an account for me' (which the…

British Gas tripled my bill
We had a phone-call two days ago, from Brotish Gas, informing us that they planned to take £266 a month from us for our electricity as of the 9th of this month, rather than the usual £88. After checking online we discovered we don’t actually owe this amount, so we called back, only to be told that it was really just in…
