Cheap Energy Club price accuracy?

I'm coming to the end of my current tariff with British Gas and have started researching my next deal. I'm a little confused/concerned that the figures that appear aren't accurate. My projected new tariffs from the BG website are at least half, sometimes two thirds of what the Cheap energy club says. Obviously it is hard to make a sensible comparison with the figures being so wildly different.
I have made sure my consumption data is as up to date as I have available on my Cheap energy account in case that was an issue but, to be honest, it has barely changed since last year.
Has anyone else found their results so badly wrong?
Many thanks for your thoughts.

I agree with the previous poster. If you use the same projected usage in kWhs/year on a supplier’s website or a PCW, you will get the same annual cost. Personally, I would never trust a supplier’s estimates. I also look for two statements about a year apart and calculate annual usage based on two actual meter readings. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks but you've both missed my point. I have used last years actual usage, in KWhs, in the cheap energy club account and their estimate of potential savings is wildly different for the same products as the British Gas estimate. Unless you are suggesting that British Gas are deliberately providing false information to me through my current account?0

Costs or savings ? "Savings" depend on the method used to make that calculation, annual costs should be the same.0

The calculation of savings from the supplier website will be that based on the Ofgem mandated calculation method.
Unfortunately, MSE has chosen not to follow the Ofgem mandated calculation method as default ... but then they don't need to as they are not an Ofgem accredited comparison site
But MSE does allow the user to set the calculation method to that mandated by Ofgem, as an alternative method of calculation of savings.0 -
Thanks the reply.
British Gas say if I move to their cheapest offering it will cost me £72 a year more. Cheap energy club says if I move to the same tariff it will cost me £142 more. Presumably they are both using my actual consumption figures, I took them from my British Gas account and added them to my Cheap energy club account.
I realise that there maybe better deals than British Gas but my concern is that if the figures are this far out, my choices are unfairly biased against BG when in actual fact they are quite similar to the best offer I can get, assuming I just stick with the bigger suppliers.0 -

The figures are generally accurate, but with over 70 different energy suppliers, each of which often have a multitude of various tariffs, and often varying across the various supply regions, the occassional hiccup can occur.
If you are sure there is an error in the MSE figures, I suggest you contact them with your evidence and get them review matters
If you are not sure, and want someone here to check the figures for you, then you will need to provide us with the corresponding data.
i.e.
1. Your supply region (or first half of post-code)
2. Your annual consumption figures in kWh
2a If on E7, the split of low and high uasge
3. The name of the tariff you are being quoted (and the annual cost by each site)0 -

So it's savings, or rather oncosts, you are looking at?
What does MSE say that oncost would be on their alternative calculation method?
Why not just look at annual cost and take the cheapest?0 -
I think I can see what's going on, the costs/savings seem to be related to the best possible deal, not compared to what i'm paying now.
Thanks for your patience, I'm off for a stiff drink. Something I do understand!0
