SSE to Eon
Just done the Energy club Comparison and it shows that I could save £400 over the year. Sounds great but what it doesn't take into account is that I am always in credit by at least £100 on each. Over the year I usually get money back in January and July while still being in credit. Just wondering if it worth the switch

Co Op hold onto money when you leave.
This is my first post here, so my apologies if this has been posted before. I just switched from the Co Op to EDF for a couple of reasons, one being saving approx £200 a year and secondly because Co Op recently changed their billing system towards the beginning of this year and to say the new system is confusing is an…

Switched to OV via Cheap Energy club
Made the switch via MSE around 3-4 weeks ago. We have had emails off First Utility (the company we are leaving) saying the switch takes place on the 8th September, but I haven't had a single piece of correspondence from OV energy to confirm any of this or get any of my details?? With the switch in two days I am unsure how…

NPower & Landlord
We moved into our flat in May 2015, private tenants and the property is owned and managed by a business. There is no gas, just electricity. This is my first place of my own so I have no experience of it, but the electricity is currently supplied by NPower. NPower and the landlord have been in a dispute over the meter since…

House purchase - supplier says have to take their product
Just bought a house (ftb) and got a letter from the supplier saying there is an existing contact with the house and we have to continue with it. Surely the contract was with the previous owners and we should be able to choose suppliers? I realise we'd pay until switchover, but can they enforce a contract we haven't agreed…

N Power - Poor Customer Services - "Bill Blocks" - unable to set up DD
Hi there, I have had endless problems with N Power since Nov 2014 ever since setting up a dual fuel account. N Power have been unable to issue a correct bill for both gas and electric usage and after numerous calls, emails and tweets, I am now being met with a stonecold silence. N Power cannot seem to set up a DD on my…

Smart Meter Doesn't Support Economy 7
I just got a letter telling me I'm eligible to upgrade to a smart meter but I am currently on an economy 7 tariff which I'm told isn't supported by a smart meter and I have to switch to a regular tariff. The problem with is that my economy 7 tariff is so cheap that no regular tariff comes close to matching it so it would…

OVO Energy - Avoid!
I recently made the mistake of joining OVO for my energy. Having only been in the property a few weeks we were unaware of the fact our Electricity meter was running backwards due to solar panels being installed, this only became apparent after getting an opening meter reading for OVO. By that time it was too late to stop…

No water for weeks - rental advice needed!
Hope I am posting in the correct board... I rent my house from my employer. I pay for my water supply and emptying of the septic tank monthly at a rate calculated by my employer. During August I had no water supply to the property for 3 weeks, due to a damaged pipe elsewhere on site, which meant the supply had to be cut…

Annual meter reading for comparison websites?
Hello, How do you calculate you meter readings to use on comparison websites? I went on the npower website and took some details of previous meter readings I've uploaded, I have tried to space them 12 months apart. Can anyone tell me roughly what annual figures I should put into a comparison website? Thanks in advance.…

Hi was wondering if anyone can shed some light!!! Spoke with Scottish power advisor as I want to change my meter as Im currently have 2 mpan numbers and cannot swap to any other energy supplier. Variable Direct Debits
Hi all. Today I got help with the latest big switch event from one of the Eon Reps and asked about variable direct debits, I spotted on another thread that EON remove the £35 per utility discount on standing charges for people paying this way which makes me not save as much as I initially thought. Does anyone know what…

Scottish Power outstanding bill
We switched our gas and electricity supply from Scottish Power to OVO a year last February, 18 months ago and we have just had a bill for an outstanding balance of £59.92. Isn't it the case that Ofgen say that the company has 12 months to ask for this balance, as when we switched they were most probably asked by OVO for a…

BT charged early exit fee, despite promising not to due to their price increase
As the title says. Received an email from BT back in July, they were increasing their line rental by a pound a month. Email clearly stated that so long as I replied within 30 days of email, and gave 30 days notice, that even though I was within the minimum contract period I would be able to cancel without any early fees.…

Switching to Npower
Anybody experienced the nightmare I am experiencing with Npower. I tried to switch gas and electric to Npower from SSE in April. To date they have only managed the electirc supply. I was not aware that the switch hadn't happened and when I checked with SSE they said they had not received a request for the gas switch. On my…

A few questions about swapping suppliers
Hello everyone. I have just used the energy supplier "swap-over" section on MSE and I have been told that I could be saving over £200 a year, if I move from British Gas to Eon (I'm on BG's "standard" tariff, by the way) Now, how true is this? And just how do you swap from one supplier to another? (Never done it before!)…

Npower ignoring actual meter readings when calculating bills
Currently having issues with npower! All of the meter readings I have submitted online since April 2015 have been 'lost' and disappeared from my online account. An actual meter read taken by the metering agents Lowri Beck in June never apparently reached npower, despite my requesting npower to contact them on multiple…

British Gas complaint
Hi there, A bit of advice needed; I will keep the story short! My 95 year old father in law received a gas bill from British Gas for £1300 for a quarter. On looking back through old bills back to 2013, I found some quarters had been charged twice and that a note had been put on his bill to say his meter had been changed in…

E-on
Hi, I am new here as I am at my wits end and hope someone can give some advice. In June I received a debt letter from Wescot debt agency, acting on behalf of E-on in regards to an outstanding bill from my previous address. I rang the company to inquire about this as I had never had never had an account with them, they…

British Gas& Elec Wrecked My Credit
I recently checked my credit rating on Experian out of sheer curiosity and was amazed to find that it was 571 extremely poor. Looking closer I discovered that British Gas & Electricity had recorded £700 of debts and missed payments against my name in Oct 2014. Quite a surprise as I dont have an account for either! Ive made…
