npower have written to tell me they are going to increase my electricity by 17.1% and my gas by 16.8%. Regarding the governments plan to simplify energy tariffs... I completely agree that there are far too many tariffs, and many of the "stepped" tariffs are just designed to catch people out. But four is way too few. Take the off-peak tariffs for example. Right now I can choose from: E7: 7 hours off peak 0030-0730 GMT.…

Obligations half of energy bills?
We all know our energy bills consist of costs towards renewable obligations for things like supporting 'green' technologies (feed in tariff, subsidies for windfarms, home insulation initiatives etc etc) and the level of those costs has always been a mystery to me. Today on Radio 4, Angela Knight (ceo of Energy Uk) implied…

According to the news this morning, this is what our illustrious government is promising. How would this work exactly? Would there be an annual review or would everyones payments be continuously monitored? Would people be moved automatically or would it simply be that the options would be pointed out? I'm all for massive…

Having now looked into…
