Gas & Electricity help needed please. Starting over ...
Hi
I would really appreciate some advice please. We have just bought a house which needs renovating and has an oil tank and electricity pre-pay meter in.
I have contacted SSE (our local gas people) as I know some of the village has mains gas and would prefer that. They are fitting us ith mains gas next month. So far so good but I now need to contact who I want to provide us to get a meter fitted a few days after. Is there a charge for the meter can anyone tell me? If so, is it a case of phoning around suppliers (really have no clue ).
Also, re the electricity, we (clearly) would like to change across to a dd account rather than pre-pay key. How do I go about changing that? Do we need to stay with the existing electricity company or do I need to phone suppliers for that too?
Sorry, I have no idea where to start so any advice is gratefully received!
Thanks

Yes there will be a charge for intalling a meter for yor gas supply, so as you say, start calling round for the best deal.
Unless you want to switch supplier, then the cost of installing the meter is probably small compared to the possible costs of choosing the wrong supplier/tariff.
With regards to your electricity meter, call your supplier and ask them.
They are more likley to provide you credit than a company that has no history about you.0
