Scottish Hydro Prepayment Meters
I have just moved into a property which has pre payment meters for both gas and electricity through Scottish Hydro. I phoned up today about getting them switched to direct debit meters , partly because of the hassle of continuously topping them up but also I was led to believe that prepayment meters charged a much higher…

Changing back from pre-Payment Meters
Hi All, Just wondered if anyone had any previous experience of this. I moved into a new house in September which has pre-payment meters for both Elec and Gas. Scottish Power told me that if I wanted to go back to a "normal" credit meter, I would have to pay around £200 for both for the new meters and installation. Just…

who's responsibility is it to do closing meter readings
I am switching my gas and electricity supplier. I have now had a letter from my old supplier, saying they are sorry bla bla bla. I went on line to check my account and it says the contract end date will be Monday 16/4/12. I assume I will have to do this meter reading, although neither the old or new supplier has actually…

His DD was £82 in September then £124 in October until he changed again when it went down to £44. His online account says bill will be ready on 4/04/12 but it is…

EDF energy price promise
Is it just my warped view on the world or is the new EDF 'price promise' advert 'cute' character a 'Richard the third?':rotfl: It is brown and tapered at the top lol! It really does look like one, particularly the one where it is in a bird-bath! If you haven't seen it, it is on youtube if you type in edf price promise! It…

First Bill....HOW MUCH!!!?!? E.on
I've recently moved into a 3bed end terace house, which is electric only. Our previous home was a 3bed semi bungalow with GCH/Water. On average, we would put around £20 per week on a pre-payment meter for electric, but some of that would pay an outstanding debt, which is now fully cleared. Bearing that in mind, £80 a month…

Compare websites - Unit price?
All I want to know is which supplier has the cheapest unit price for gas and electricity on the standard pay-on-bill tariff. Why do all these sites want to know how much I use or spend or blah blah blah? Doesn't really help when you are just trying to price up who to go with when moving into a new property.

Scottish Power: Enormous Final Bill
Hi guys, I hope you will be able to shed some light on our situation... Having very recently paid approximately £300.00 for 3 months dual fuel useage (and bearing in mind this payment was made around 10 days prior our move-out date), I was shocked to discover that our closing payment covering said 10 days was greater than…

British Gas nightmare
Hi there, My mother-in-law recently moved home and as she didn't have her phone or internet setup yet (another story) I've been helping her sort out her accounts at my end. Anyway, I signed her up to British Gas online. After a week or two she gets a letter saying they have 2 accounts registered at that address and can I…

Edf "cocks a snook" at price comparison with Blue +price promise
Just done a test comparison with the Edf Price Promise checker. The result returned stated "After checking what our competitors are up to, we're happy to say you can't save more than £1 a week anywhere else at typical usage*" [yes there is a asterisk:(] "Accurate" (as in weasily worded) but most regions have a few…

EDF Character
I think EDF have got their characters mixed up. Surely, that robot Keepon should be their mascot for the SAP billing system correction? ;) Honestly, it looks like something slightly lighter coloured that comes out of my dogs bum...without the eyes of course. (Ah, now it seems appropriate :D )

Spark Energy gas bill rounding errors
Prompted by a huge final bill from them ( 90% of which was due to them using vastly inflated meter readings ) I went through my recent bills from Spark Energy in great detail, and noticed that the number of Kwh charged for on the gas bill doesn't match up with the number of Kwh calculated from the formula printed on the…

How 'average' is £10 per week for electricity?
Assume for the purposes of the thread we are talking about an all electric supply, i.e. no gas or oil. Also 'family' covers people with children or without. The options are: Spend £10 per week one/two bedroom -single person Spend £10 per week one/two bedroom - family Spend £10 per week three+ bedroom - single person Spend…

Have I found a get out?
I started a gas and electric contract in October last year that was tied in for 12 months. I'm moving house next week and phones them to tell them. My account was closed and a new account started and I have been told that my contract is now until July 2013 and I have a 7 day cooling off period. Does this mean I can look…

EDF incorrectly estimated direct debit
Hi, I have been on a dual fuel tarrif with EDF for a couple of years. The first year the DD for both gas and electric was £80. Last March, EDF reduced this to £49. I have now read both meters and submitted readings online, these match up to their "estimated" readings reasonably well, so no massive increase/decrease in…
