How 'average' is £10 per week for electricity?
Assume for the purposes of the thread we are talking about an all electric supply, i.e. no gas or oil. Also 'family' covers people with children or without.
The options are:
Spend £10 per week one/two bedroom -single person
Spend £10 per week one/two bedroom - family
Spend £10 per week three+ bedroom - single person
Spend £10 per week three+ bedroom - family
Couldn't live off £10 per week - single person
Couldn't live off £10 per week - family
Clearly there will be huge variations but a ballpark idea would be good.

we have a 3bed semi
just me and the gf.
both work 8 hours a day, only things left on are the alarm clock and fridge freezers.
GCH so no issue with that.

There's 3 of us in a 2 bed terrace, we do have gas and spend about £20 a week on gas & electric together so if we were all electric I'd guess it would cost us more than £10 a week. But my OH is sick/disabled and I care for him so there's nearly always someone in the house, if we both worked and were out of the house all day we'd probably spend less.
Gas is only used for heating so in the warmer months we're all electric and spend about £15 a week, that includes heating water with the electric immersion.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
We live in a 2 bedroom house, 3 people not an all electric household but I would estimate we use approx £15 a week for Electricity (we have duel fuel so I looked at our last bill and the electricity worked out at about £20 a week, but as it's the bill that covered winter I estimate about £15 a week on average)
We have an electric cooker and I have to use a tumble dryer to dry the majority of our laundry as our garden backs onto an over spill car park and the dust off the stones blows in our garden and covers all the washing with grit (it's bloody annoying)0 -
We’re a ‘large’ 4 bed, and £10 a week for electricity seems about right (me, OH and 2 girls).
Although at the same time we’re GCH.

Appreciate the replies guys but it's kinda skewing things a bit if you don't solely use electricity for your needs.
Clearly using another fuel for heat for example will make a big difference.Herman - MP for all!

It also skews things a lot if some households have people at home all day whilst in others the property's empty for 10 hours a day!0

But I don't think you're going to get many larger households that DO'N'T use gas for their heating.0

Clearly, but as you know, criteria such as this was not part of the original comment which led to this query.mintymoneysaver wrote: »But I don't think you're going to get many larger households that DO'N'T use gas for their heating.
Not sure I agree with that. The area we live doesn't even have mains gas. The area we came from only got mains gas a few years ago.
Regardless, the question was only aimed at sole electricity users (even if that was a small section).Herman - MP for all!
