Baffling Eon Meter Reading Antics
In July, one of my meters was replaced by EOn. At the beginning of November, I was recently informed that Eon would send someone out to read my meters. I assumed they did so. Mid-November, I receive a bill that is based on estimates - including an estimate for the old meter. The bill was double what it should be. I then…

Does this gas and electric sound right?
Hi I've just bought a mid-terrace Victorian house and it's been a while since I lived in a gas using house. I've just had a quarterly bill from EDF covering the period 30th August to 23rd November and it's come in at £385 total. Now, when I took over this house, I set the combined DD at £100 a month and I realise that the…

Oil radiator or Central Heating
Hi All, I've been pondering a situation recently regarding heating. I ask my question and then explain my situation so it might make a bit of sense. It's 10pm, my family has gone to bed and the CH has gone off. I'm going to be up until probably mid-night. What would be the cheaper thing to do 1) Turn the CH back on again…

I'm in a 3 bedroom rented house with prepayment meter with 3 people living in it including me. With dropping temperatures I have put the storage heaters on at low settings (1.5-2 on a 1-6 scale) in the living room, kitchen, dining room and one of the bedrooms. The cost has gone up to about £6 or £7 a day (looking at the…

Normal gas usage or too high?
Hi all, I've just moved into a new flat, and as part of moving in, I decided to switch suppliers. As a result, the following readings are actual, not estimates. On the 10th Oct, the meter was 2200. Today (29/30th Nov), the meter reads 2312 - 112 units in just over a month which I worked out to be almost £50 with my old…

For almost a year I've bought my electricity from npower on their "Sign online 20" tariff. The charges are 9.75p and 13.50 per kwH after VAT. Phantom power usage even with nothing plugged in?
I've been working for years trying to whittle down our power usage with much success, and now I've received a new smart meter, which means I can get even more accuracy in my home power usage audits. SO. My house rests at about 120w power usage, and I've tracked down every watt with some surprises. The biggest surprise is…

I am in the process of fighting NPower. After my ex left I had the accounts for gas and electricity transferred to my name. There was a six motnh delay as they refused until they had tracked down my ex who was previously responsible and had left a debt so I accumulated a 6 month debt while they faffed about. When they…
