Atlantic Electric&Gas Retrospective Price Increase - SURELY ILLEGAL?
I have been a customer of Atlantic for a several years (gas only) and they have been consistently very good - cheap that is. However, today I received a letter informing me that prices would increase from 25 August by 29.2%. Naturally I telephoned them to suggest that this is unreasonable/illegal - increasing the price of…

Cancelling a switch? Will prices rise before they fall?
I switched from Swalec to Scottish Power as they came out by far the cheapest. I opted for the Fixed Rate through to November tarriff as it only worked out an extra £1 a month and I thought prices would only ever increase. Today I received the letter asking for the meter number and that if I did not return it they would…

Midway through switch to Click Energy 5
I'm one of several who were previously on npower Sign Online 8 which had a massive price increase of over 100% at the end of August 2008 for electricity. Like many I decided to switch to British Gas Click Energy 5 Online despite knowing that the tariff was also due to receive a price increase. I am midway through the…

If gas and electric prices DO come down...
Would I see my tariff with British Gas reduced, bearing in mind I'm locked in until 2011? I know the cap prevents prices rising, but what happens if prices are lowered?

Are Atlantic allowed to do this??
I have received a letter today from Atlantic dated October 2008, advising me that as of 25 August 2008 prices will be increasing!! I have so far been unable to get in touch with them, but surely they are not allowed to raise prices retrospectively without warning??

Scottish Power Online Price Fall fix ending
My current dual fuel deal ends 31 Oct. They've sent me a mailing offering a "Fix For Free" deal till May 08, I had a chat with them & it seems that the main difference to the Price Fall product is that there is no automatic reduction if the price falls but you can cancel and change tarriff without penalty. Any thoughts on…

Switching Advice, Not sure about what Martin says anymore?
Having switched and fixed my dual fuel a month or so ago on eon as per MSE advice at the time, I am now in the position that I am not so sure I should have done. Most providers have indeed raised prices but I THINK that my previous supplier BG on Click 5, has not, and now wholesale prices are supposed to be falling. Now I…

Atlantic price increase
Official MoneySavingExpert.com Insert What's this about? Atlantic has just announced price increases for its customers, yet it has backdated these to August meaning you will be forced to pay increased energy costs for the last three months. Can it do that? Ofgem says Atlantic's within its rights to do this provided they…

Why Primary & Seconary Units?
Hi, When I fill up my tank at the petrol station, I don't get charged one price for the first 10 litres, then another price for the next 40 litres. So, why do energy companies charge different prices for primary and secondary units? I know that this has something to do with price plans not inclusive of a standing charge,…

Bad Advice from BG Homecare Engineers?
Hi all, Just wanted to report a friend's experiences with British Gas Homecare engineers. On at least three occasions, my friend has been given advice that, in my opinion, could have increased her gas/electric usage unnecessarily. She subscribes to BG's Homecare service, and is a BG customer for both gas and electric.…

I have an Economy 7 meter and my supplier is Atlantic. I'm trying to understand exactly which hours the night rate applies to. I phoned Atlantic and they say 01:00 - 08:00 but this information I found on the Eon website seems to suggest that times may vary (I'm in area 11).…
