Cancelling a switch? Will prices rise before they fall?

I switched from Swalec to Scottish Power as they came out by far the cheapest. I opted for the Fixed Rate through to November tarriff as it only worked out an extra £1 a month and I thought prices would only ever increase.

Today I received the letter asking for the meter number and that if I did not return it they would cancel my switch application.

1. Will prices rise before they fall? If so, I would be beter off sticking to fixed and take the £30 tarriff switch and stay with Scottish Power when their prices come down.

2. How often can I switch suppliers?

3. If I cancel this application, and instead reapply for Scottish Powers normal tariff, would they possibly refuse my application due to cancelling one previously only a month or so before?

Thanks in advance
