British Gas - be careful!
I signed up to British Gas Price Guarantee 2009 before it was pulled and before the prices rose. Received documentation from British Gas confirming they have set me up on their Click Energy 5 tariff, which will no doubt be rising shortly  . Big mistake or very cheeky? You decide. I have just spoken to British Gas who…

Electric - overpayments, switching, etc!
I've been in my flat a year now, and I'm fairly sure that I can reduce my direct debits for my electric by at least £5 a month. I've been paying £30 a month (probably not since I first moved in) and they currently owe me over £30 in overpayments. I chose to pay that much thinking it'd cover extra costs in the Winter, but I…

BRITISH GAS - New Caps Promotion ????
We've had a letter from BG this week, saying that we can cap until 2011 .. Bearing in mind, that Martin has said that the offers to cap had ended, and that we shouldn't cap at the moment anyway, I wondered if any other suppliers have reopenned capping, and if so, are we seeing the start of possible price competition ??? If…

Choosing “Utility Warehouse” as a supplier in the current climate?
1. I was wondering if you guys can give me some insight into my current predicament. I managed to grab myself the E.On PP17 Capped tariff a couple of weeks back (my 14 day cancellation period ends this Saturday). I feel there is some uncertainty in the gas and elec market and hence I eagerly switched to this capped price…

Are we falling foul of scare tactics....?
The following is written in the knowledge that deciding what rate to pay for gas/electric is a complete gamble, a gamble where the odds are stacked in the utility companies favour. ...oh, and sorry for the long post! So, British gas increase their gas by 30%+ and leccy by 9% a few weeks back. Just before that ML and others…

Efergy smart meter accuracy.
The efergy smart meter is clip-on type electricity usage meter much like the owl and eon types. I thought I'd compare the energy supplier's meter readings (the one in the cupboard) against those logged by the efergy in order to test its accuracy. Here are the results of my trial run. Meter units logged: 204 kwh Efergy…

EON`s Fixed Rate
We get out gas and electric from EON, we are on a fixed rate and have been for the last year and a half or so, this is until 2010. Switched then switched back
I listened to all Martin's advice and panicked into switching from my current supplier to E-On. I went on holiday and came back to compare the duel fuel prices. The new capped price from E-On was more expensive than I was alreaady paying but I took the time to contact my current supplier who was offering 3 per cent off my…

reduced gas bill with solar hot water ?
We installed a solar panel in the spring to heat the hot water - as a result we have used 75% less gas - however because we are charged alot more for the first 242kwh of gas that we use our gas bill has only reduced by 50%. Are there any providers which charge a flat rate Kwh ? We are currently with NPower.
