I moved to British Gas because the comparison sites said this was the cheapest for me. This was using a direct debit payment system which i thought would be ok until they started using it. Our usage goes up and down quite a bit. It became a complete nightmare to control/keep track of we ended up paying far too much each…

Should I update my old gas boiler/central heating system?
Hi. I'm looking for some advice about my gas boiler/central heating system. I bought my property in Islington, North London, last year and it has an old Glow Worm Space Saver Mark 2 gas boiler. It appears it hasn't been serviced since 1995 (at least it hasn't been recorded on the boiler if it has!) and I've got someone…

EON increases monthly Direct Debit by 40%
I received a letter today informing me that EON would be increasing my monthly direct debit from £33 to £46 a month, an increase of nearly 40%. Certainly my usage patterns haven't changed, so I can only assume this is in anticipation of them increasing their charges later this year. My consumption last year would have cost…

What is capping?
 If you are paying say £100 a month and you cap at 7% does this mean you pay £107 per month for the term its capped or does it mean you pay no higher than the £107 but if the rate went down you would pay the lower amount plus 7%. So if it was £50 you would pay £53.50? I have tried to cap my electricity twice with…

I've never used the storage heaters in my flat but because I have them I have been put on Economy 7 meaning my energy rate drops between 1am - 8 am.
