Help!!
I curently have British Gas for gas only and NPower for electricity. I pay by direct debit each month £80 for gas and also electricity has now gone up to £64.00 per month totalling £144.00pm. The problem is that we have been in debit for some time with the gas and our direct debit started out at about £50 pm but due to the arrears we put this up to £80.00. The electricity was always paid in full each time but as the bills rose we could no longer afford to do this so we now pay by dd £64.00 pm and are in debit also with NPower. I am in the situation where I am in debit to both companies by a couple of hundred pounds and cannot afford to clear these debts. In the meantime it is costing £144.00 per month and we will never be in credit and I cannot switch providers whilst I am in this situation. There was a time when we used to be in credit regularly with the gas and they used to refund us but the prices are so high now I am permanently in debit! Do you have any suggestions at all? I am about to go on maternity leave and money is going to be even tighter!!
