Can existing E-On customers switch to their capped tarriff?
I'm with E-on, and it still seems to be the best value in my area (plus clubcard points!). Is it possible to 'switch' to their capped tarriff, and how would I 'pay' for this (service charge/one off fee?)

E-ON Ad with Electric Monitor
I was watching TV last night when an ad for E-On came on for this monitor/meter that you have in your home, (the ad showed it on someone's fireplace), it looks like a gadget about 4 inches high with an LED display and seemed to show how much electric you were using and the cost etc, just wondered if anyone knew anymore…

Npower...automated readings...hmmm
I got an estimated bill from n-power. It was in fact too low. I then opted to give the true reading to n-power, using their automated service. When I had finished doing the automated reading it acknowledged that i had just left a reading and repeated my reading (numbers). So far so good. Two weeks later still no revised…

i'm in the middle of changing supplier - can i change to another now?
About 5 weeks ago on the advice of this site i used one of the cashback/comparison sites to change supplier for gas & electric, it's still not gone through but that seems to be normal. However, I've just heard martin on the radio demanding we all change to capped rates NOW (before Monday apparently) and my worry is if i…

trying to change my dads deal
My mum died earlier this year so now my dad who is 68 years old lives on his own, fortunately he does own his own home but his only income is his state pension which he gets £550 a month, out of that he has to pay full council tax at £128 a month (he can't get a rebate cos he has got some savings), his gas and electric…

Did I switch in time?
After putting off looking at my energy bills (stupid I know) I finally made the switch to a fixed tariff with E.on last Friday. With the announcement of large price rises today from EDF ( and others soon), I am not sure if when my fixed price goes into effect. Have I secured the fixed rate when I signed up, or is it only…

A great deal by contacting your current supplier?
A lot has been made in the past of contacting your supplier threatening to leave to a better deal. This enevitably leads to a "special deal" from your current supplier not widely advertised. This is especially true of mobile phone companies and internet providers. Martin has often said on Radio 2, "Ask to be put through to…

Query: Gas central heating & hot water...
Hi there! We have an old-style timer for our gas central heating and hot water (all in one, but obviously at this time of year, we have all the heaters turned fully off), so we're just heating the water in our storage tank. I'm not talking about the central heating element of it, because I know that that's a whole…

Switching Providers If You Owe Them Money
Having taken Martin's advice I am switching to a capped rate for my gas and electricity. I am trying to move from EDF to E-on. However it turns out that I am in advance with my electricity only £30 but owe £506.00 to EDF for my gas. They will not let me switch until it is paid off. My problem is that I cant afford to pay…

Underpaid in the past
With meters not being read for ages I've significantly underpaid both my gas and electricity bills with British Gas :o . Now my latest quarterly bills are for about £1.1K total at the new,, higher tariffs. Is there potential for asking for a reduction since the gas and electricity was clearly not all consumed in the last…

Economy 7 - have I been tricked?
Hmmm - call me suspicious but just wondering if we have just been shafted by EON. Got a bill from them two weeks ago - our electricity figures were all mixed up as we had an old meter in the house when we moved in and the suppier back then had given the readings in the wrong order. There were storage heaters in the house…

Gas & Electric price cappingq
Hi. My dual fuel costs are with British Gas and are capped until March 2009 (I capped them in March 2006) Should I now cancel that contract as there are no penalty charges and enter into a new fixed price contract as per moneysaving advice that energy costs are going to rise up to 60% in the near future?

British Gas - Final Bill Or So I Thought
I changed gas supplier about 3 months from BG to Atlantic. Everything well through fairly smoothly and I gave Atlantic my reading on the day I moved to them. Few weeks later I received a final bill form BG saying that I was in credit and here is a cheque for the amount. Thank you very much; banked the cheque and that was…
