British Gas Capped Question
I applied today on their website for the capped until 2009 Tarriff. They said on the phone it might take 6-8 weeks to swap over from Npower (my existing supplier). If the British Gas prices go up in the next couple of weeks will I be stung or now I've started the ball rolling am I immune from any price rises from today?

Electricity Supply Connection
In 2005 we had a new home built that required a new electricity connection. The cost of this connection was around £5.5k even though it came from an overhead pole less that 50m away. We were told that the high cost was due to the fact that we had to pay for the new transformer that had to be fitted to the pole. A new house…

Switching through Quidco - cashback or Tesco points?
It says on Quidco £55 for switching duel fuel. But going through the link to e-on - it doesn't mention the cashback - just Tesco points for signing up. Is that instead of - or as well as - the £55 cashback?

Scottish Hydro Electric... THTC
When using the comparison websites, my current tariff, which incidentally is Standard total heating total control with Scottish Hydro Electric, cannot be found as a tariff option! This differs from economy7 as I get my storage heaters/water boosted at different times of the rather than through the night and I believe my…

Dual fuel only cap-and we have prepay electric-stuck now!
So I wanted to follow Martin's advice and switch to a capped Gas tarrif but apparently the only ones available (advised by energyhelpline.com) are for dual fuel-so you have to switch both. I'd be willing to do that, if thats the only way but can't as the house we rent has a prepay electric meter fitted...so I need to try…

Before I panic (Npower deal)
As an existing npower customer, they had an offer a few months ago for us to fix our prices for the next 2 years (I think). I can't shake the feeling that it wasn't CALLED a capped rate though, so now I'm paranoid that there's some small print and that basically I'm going to be "screwed over"? Did anyone else get this deal…

Ebico.
Hi all. I have used the Energyhelpline comparison site a few times. I have never seen Ebico come up as an option. I am with Ebico using Equigas and Equipower. They use several distribition companies to supply customers. The comparison site showed British Gas 'Energy 5' would be my biggest saving. Their rates are,…

Dual fuel discount comparisons?
Hi, I've done a few comparions and to switch to a capped tariff would involve paying an extra £40 a year (and with cashback I'd save about £20). However, I am currently with npower and get £80 dual fuel discount with them which doesn't appear to be taken into account when the prices are compared. This means I think it is a…

Fix or cap
Hi all, Some advice would be welcome. I have never switched suppliers before, so am a bit concerned. I got the MSE email saying cap now, so I've been to the recommended comparison site and, basically, there aren't many caps around. If I capped my rate and went dual fuel, I'd save £15. If I went to a fixed rate, I'd save…

We are currently with EDF, and I don't know if it makes any difference but we live in a rented flat. Can anyone tell me there experiences of switching…

surely i'm not on the cheapest tariff already?!
Hi all Long-time lurker, first-time poster! After receiving the MSE email the other day about energy price hikes, I decided to pull my finger out and switch. I live alone in a 1-bed rented flat and have been here for 9 months. Scottish Power were the supplier when I moved in and I haven't bothered switching since then.…

E.On - which of their deals is best?
I've finally decided to switch suppliers and (hopefully) pre-empt the forecast rise in energy costs. I've narrowed it down to two different E.On deals. The prices per unit are exactly the same on both, it just appears to be the wording that is different. Energy Saver 4 reads as the price being capped, but could also drop…
