Dual fuel only cap-and we have prepay electric-stuck now!

So I wanted to follow Martin's advice and switch to a capped Gas tarrif but apparently the only ones available (advised by energyhelpline.com) are for dual fuel-so you have to switch both. I'd be willing to do that, if thats the only way but can't as the house we rent has a prepay electric meter fitted...so I need to try and get them to switch that to a normal tarrif before I can sign up for a capped dual fuel tarrif? By the time they've changed it the caps will all have vanished?
-So did anyone manage to cap just their gas-if so how/who with etc. (Martin didn't mention this in the articles i dont think?!)
-Does anyone know how to get electric to agree to switch it off prepay (we all have good credit ratings etc), and how long that generally takes? The company (EDF) is closed today sadly...
Any tips very welcome.
