Ok been doing some numbers and am on atm British Gas Click 5 tariff. The figures of which are (ex vat)

Electric

Tier 1 (0-125) 12.773
Tier 2 (126+) 9.102

Gas

Tier 1 (0-670) 5.684
Tier 2 (670+) 2.385

Now the fixed rate until Dec 09 they gave me is

Electric

Tier 1 (0-125) 22.560
Tier 2 (126+) 12.003

Gas

Tier 1 (0-670) 6.754
Tier 2 (670+) 2.883

Now as EDF have put Elec up by 22% and Gas by 17% if BG say for example but theirs up by 25% and 20% then the new prices would be

Electric T1 - 15.966 and T2 - 11.377
Gas T1 - 6.820 and T2 - 2.862

So the gas bill would be cheaper but the electric bill would be no where near.

At 40% (the extreme i think) would be 17.882 and 12.742 which again is cheaper than the fixed offer.

Last Qtr i used 1020 units and that was charged at £15.966 (t1) plus £86.469 (t2) total of £102.435 if i go fixed the price would be £28.20 (t1) and £114.02 (t2) a total of £142.228 so a price increase of £40 P/Q.

The gas would be £57.695 (now) to £65.958 (fixed) i used 135 units at 1492.35 KWh.

So a small price increase of approx 16%

Now my head is in a total spin atm and really unsure what to do

    Hi ...

Altho' I posted this yesterday - it has an uncanny resemblance to yours, except I am still on ClickEnergy4 - and the figures you have and I have are

Personally, I have decided to stick where I am (I think - still doing similar calculations as you about usage) but I also don't see anything but a fall in the price of oil, now maybe that won't be reflected in a drop for consumers - prices will rise, of that there is NO doubt - but I am just not convinced that the scale of rises being predicted will happen.

i agree ,, these are my tariff details also,, to cap would be crazy,, like you say if the worse does happen ,, we still wont be worse of. The silly prices these greedy companies are quoting us now for a 12 month cap..

how stupid are we for putting up with this?? loyalty should be rewarded , they think they are "doing us a favour" saying our prices wont go up for a year,,,,, thanks ,, cheers so kind to belt us with a premium,

How ironic a couple of the big six are french owned,,their would be riots in gay Paris if a british owned company dictated and screwed them ..

pity we are just " so british"
