Giving a week's notice then requesting to use two days of annual leave
Tomorrow I will be resigning from my job, due to personal difficulties. My contract requires that I give a week's notice - my job is a fixed term position, doing basic clerical/administration stuff in the public sector. Furthermore, by the end of the month I'll have accrued two days of annual leave, and I'd really like to…

Jobs overseas for mature folk
Can you suggest some jobs overseas suited to those of semi-retirement age, ones that don't pay at a subsistence rate, perhaps may have cheap accommodation provided? Teaching English is one option - some countries or organisations pay better than others with some providing a liveable wage while others offer a laughable.…

Help with P45
Hi I wonder if someone can help. My husband finished employment on the 1 June 2013, however his P45 appears to be incorrect. The tax year runs from 6 April and if he left on the 1 June, that would be 8weeks, yet the week number shows week 12. How is that? Also the pay to date appears to be incorrect. Unfortunately we don't…

Lost job with agency - contacting company directly ?
For the last year I have been working as a freelance writer/researcher for a media agency, and was working on a project for one of their clients. Initially I was offered a temporary contract as I have sick leave on my record due to an operation...anywho I accepted knowing of have to go through the process again. So last week I interviewed, but so did someone who's just joined the company, who I'm managing (yes I'd…

Intrusive questions on application forms
I have asked a firm for an application form and am genuinely interested in the vacancy. Unfortunately the application form has some rather nosy questions on it, which I am not particularly comfortable about answering as IMO the answers are irrelevant to the short listing process. They want candidates to "list any diseases,…

Gross misconduct hearing - advice required please
Hi guys Just to give you the full picture; I'm a 37 year old female who lives with my partner aged 45 and our adopted son aged 16 (he's lived with us for 12 years - we used to foster). We are good, hard working people. I remained a stay at home parent (due to fostering guidelines) until the age of 31, when we decided to…

Bullying boss
Sorry for long post. Last summer I was bullied by my boss. I sought advice from my union who advised me to resolve the issues through mediation. I felt as issues were personal (about my looks, my weight and my relationships) that there was no way I could sit in a room with her, her senior manager, her union rep, my senior…
