i have been working for a charity shop 2 years as a volunteer and 2 years as the asst manager and in them 4 years i haven't had any problems with my manager but since the start of the year my manager seems to have it in for me , telling me that i'm rubbish at my job and i don't work hard enough that i am the reason why volunteers leave etc also that its my fault that i don't seem to take as much money as her when my i work my days these are things she things im doing wrong but hasn't said anything to my face i have only learnt of this from a volunteer that i am friends with who also works at the shop . the shop is closing in 4 months and there is nothing we can do about it so i really don't understand why she is suddenly so on my case about everything i don't know if she thinks she can stop the shop from closing or what, last year she spent a lot of time of ill and i was alright then to cover for her even if it meant i had to cancel plans of my own then she needed time off i once had to work for 3 weeks without a day off . i could understand if this was an ongoing thing but its hasn't been and the fact she is telling a volunteer this and not me is also something i don't get. my boyfriend thinks its to do with us being together since he was a volunteer and quite a bit older then me and all this stuff started around the time we started going out. but i don't know what to think or what to do . she is meant to be coming in on my next day of working for a surprise visit to see if im doing my job properly and to have a go at me i guess.

Personally, if the manager hasn't said it to my face then it hasn't been said.
If another member of staff started talking like this I think I'd go for the 'oh really? You'd have thought she'd have mentioned that to me, wouldn't you?' approach.
Treat the manager professionally, ask if there's a problem, respond professionally if she says there is, and take it from there.
Everything else, like your boyfriend's analysis of the reasons for this, is speculation and gossip.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
i have been working for a charity shop 2 years as a volunteer and 2 years as the asst manager.
In those 4 years i haven't had any problems with my manager but since the start of the year my manager seems to have it in for me, telling me that i'm rubbish at my job and i don't work hard enough and that i am the reason why volunteers leave etc
The manager's also saying that its my fault that i don't seem to take as much money as her when my i work my days.
These are things she thinks im doing wrong but hasn't said anything to my face. I have only learnt of this from a volunteer that i am friends with who also works at the shop.
The shop is closing in 4 months and there is nothing we can do about it, so i really don't understand why she is suddenly so on my case about everything.
I don't know if she thinks she can stop the shop from closing or what?
Last year she spent a lot of time of ill and i was alright then to cover for her even if it meant i had to cancel plans of my own.
Then she needed time off - I once had to work for 3 weeks without a day off.
I could understand if this was an ongoing thing, but it hasn't been and the fact she is telling a volunteer this and not me is also something I don't get.
My boyfriend thinks its to do with us being together since he was a volunteer and quite a bit older then me and all this stuff started around the time we started going out. I don't know what to think or what to do.
She is meant to be coming in on my next day of working for a surprise visit to see if im doing my job properly and to have a go at me i guess.
Are you and she volunteers or are you paid?
Is there any chance that there is another shop that you could be transferred to? Is she trying to make you look bad so that she could be retained and transferred to another shop?
Could this be jealousy? Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

only the manager and the asst manager are paid the rest of the volunteers .
my manager has been offered other jobs in other shop but i haven't . i haven't really heard much about the shop closing down apart from the date it is closing . i really don't get why she is so on my case now when there is only 4 months left i haven't changed that much in the last 4 years since i've been there.0 -
Perhaps she is trying to get you to resign to save the redundancy payment.
If the shop is definitely closing they need to put you on notice of redundancy at some point if there is no other work.
I would be going over their head and looking for other shops if you want to stay working for this charity.
Volunteers won't be too keen if the place is closing0
