They want right to live in the UK, he took in his passport the first day he started because they said they needed it. Hourly paid workers, when clocks go back
Do hourly paid employees working this evening get an extra hour of pay ? Also, for those working hourly when the clocks go forward are they paid an hour less ? Of course if they worked on both Saturdays when the changes take place it would balance out, but Sodds law, or Murphy would mean this wouldn't be the case.

3 sectors - 3 interviews - which would you go for?
Hi all. I thought I'd see what people think about this. I've got interviews for 3 jobs, and without realising it I've created a bit of a dilemma for myself. One is with a rapidly-growing private company, one's a charity (one of the UK's biggest), and the other's for central government. All IT. Not that I expect to be…

Employer demanding for doctor's note
Asking on behalf of a friend. She's worked for a private company for less than a year. She's been off ill for four days after her holiday in another country, and her manager think she's making up a reason to extend her stay there. She's been in hospital for nearly a month but that was her own holiday time off, and she's…

Employment Agencies - general
I have registered CV's with a number of agencies. What's the etiquette if more than one of them want to put me forward for the same job? How do agencies get paid? (general interest) Is it a fixed ammount or a percentage of advertised salary? What's a ball park figure for either?

Two Civil Service Job Rejections In One Week!
I am NOT a happy bunny, as I have had job rejections from TWO Civil Service Departments in one week. The last rejection was from one those annoying competency questionnaires you have to complete, where you have to tick what's most like you and what's least like you. Is anybody else having trouble getting back into the…

I also get carers allowance as I live at home with my dad who needs constant care. I spoke to the CAB about it all and they said carers…

Underpaid after resignation - what should I do?
Last week, I resigned from my job after working for four years for a local council. I was told to expect that I would get a month and three weeks wages on the 26th of October. I owed £215 which was an overpayment for annual leave I took. There has been problems all day today with the money reaching my account. I was told…
