Why sign letters electronically not in ink?
Have noticed on numerous letter templates and posts in the Forum stating that it is advisable when sending letters to DCAs, banks and alike to sign letters electronically or just print your name. Why is this?

IVA only way out?
Hello I have a couple of questions if you dont mind... My circumstances are this; My total outgoings are pretty much exactly what I am earning, give or take 1-200. At this rate my debts which include £9500 on a CC and £3000 on an overdraft will not be paid off for a very very long time. I have calculated that a loan of…

From bad credit to home owner.
My mother passed away no too long ago and we were renting at the time. I myself am in my early twenties and through several life insurance policies I am now a home owner. In the past I have had a CCJ several defaults from when I was a student. Being a homeowner with no mortgage, will that boost my credit rating, and if so…

If a £500 debt is sold to a DCA for £10, can I legally pay £10
Hi all, hope someone can offer some advice here. I was thinking of a possible loophole where if a DCA buys a debt (which I owe), can I simply pay the debt purchase value. As an example, I have a Credit Card with a balance of £1700, this has now been sold & resold to numerous DCA's. Could I, using data protection laws, ask…

3 Mobile debt collection
Hi, I received a letter today (April 2nd 2011) from 3 mobile saying I owed them £62.99 on a contract I started in October 2006 and subsequently cancelled in June 2007. I bought myself out of the contract via Carphone Warehouse and as far as I was aware, this contract was dead and buried. They said I have 20 days to pay,…

Interesting result with Natwest...
Hi chaps, I posted a little while ago elsewhere on these forums about some issues I have had obtaining finance. Having now researched etc, I discovered that there were two defaults on my credit record which had been adversely affecting me. Anyway, one of them is something that I accept and have had to figure out ways to…

My SOA - opinions please!
Hi there everyone, I've posted my SOA below and i've checked it against my monthly budget spreadsheet which I keep and it seems to accurately reflect the amount of money I have leftover each month to put towards my OD/CC. I'll explain here a bit more what is included below as I am aware it looks a bit empty! The 114 I have…

Hi All, Here's my SOA. This is based on my own income, although it's possible my partner will very soon be in full time work also. Marlin Financial Services and a 10 year old debt.
Well seeing as I have posted my SOA, I thought I would ask this question. It would seem a tracking agency (Datatrace UK) posted a card through my door last week, I rang them up not knowing what they wanted. I have since found out that a company called Marlin Financial Services have found a 10 year old debt from Yes Car…

Triton Credit Services
Who are these people. Answered the phone last night and these people asked for my wife. Turns out she has slipped on CC payments and has given SOA to them. They say she is in deficit with income/outgoings yet she has arranged to pay £80 pm to them. Is this all above board?

Bank said they would waive charges. They didn't
So my account was overdrawn by £200 last month so I rang up to talk to the bank about it. While on the phone, I paid in £200 to get it back in the black, but was also told that I had been charged £6 a day for each day the account was overdrawn (27 days) £162 in total which was due to be taken from the account on the 1st…

Washing machine rental
Hi. I couldn't quite find the right forum, hope this is ok. I was considering renting a washing machine. Mine is broken and I have to spend at least £4.50 a week in the laundrette, and more if I have to wash sheets so it will easily approach the £22 a month for renting a good machine and maybe the latter will be cheaper.…

Fake N1CPC Form?
Hello All, This is a bit of weird one, I think. On Thursday I received an N1CPC claim form purporting to be from Northampton County Court Bulk Centre, for a very old debt. Now the debt genuinely existed, way back when in 2003/2004, and things got very out of hand for a short while. DCA's were involved and I found some to…

First credit. SAR. Shredding documents. Help!!
Sometime ago I got into financial difficulty and 1st credit acquired a debt in my name from Nat West/RBS. I understand that 1st Credit pay approx 8p in the £ for acquiring debts (eg: they would pay £800 for a £10,000 debt but would still chase for £10k plus charges and interest!!) They very swiftly managed to get a…
