If a £500 debt is sold to a DCA for £10, can I legally pay £10

Hi all,
hope someone can offer some advice here.
I was thinking of a possible loophole where if a DCA buys a debt (which I owe), can I simply pay the debt purchase value.
As an example, I have a Credit Card with a balance of £1700, this has now been sold & resold to numerous DCA's. Could I, using data protection laws, ask for the DCA to divulge the value of my debt purchase and then use this value to clear my debt?
I ask this as I have in the region of 10 creditors chasing me since the loss of my job & house. I have offered repayment terms previously, all of which were turned down. As this was a few years ago, I am now trying to re-address my predicament and resolve my debt problems once and for all.

yeah you have every right, however dpa does not cover the purchase price.0

You may offer as little or as much as you please, but your current creditor(s) will be under no obligation to accept your offer.0

I had the same issue when i lost my job, i offered all five creditors what i could afford and they refused everytime.
I ended up going the the CAB and was advised that a Debt relief order would be better for me, i would contact the CAB to see if they can help you tackle your debts, i know hoe hard and upsetting it can be getting chased for debts you just cant afford to pay0
