Sunday 20/04/08 What small dfw things have you done today???
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

DFW Daily Chat - Sunday 20th April
Morning  Hope no-one minds me starting this, been up for ages with Natasha, who seems to think 5am is a suitable time to wake up on a Sunday... What's everyone doing today? We are just getting a few annoying little jobs out of the way - paperwork, tidying the 'monster cupboard' (under the stairs where the…

Now have asked for cca agreement and one company sent back about 5 lines including my signature on app form:confused: but not theirs. Basically I've been unable to sleep all night because it's hit me that I'm in real financial c**p. The problems: - We owe the council tax £400. I asked them to split…

Are early repayment charges legal?
Hi everyone any advice would be great, we are lucky enough at the moment to have some spare money so in true MSE manner we decided to pay off some debt. The said debt is a window loan which we took out over 4 years ago. The balance on the account is £4600 but to pay this off they want us to pay £5400 an early repayment…

Paying off debts. YAY
What is the one debt your are more proud of yourself for paying off? Mine is NPower. When we (DH and I) lived in our last address, it was our first place together. It was all electric. I had no idea how much utility bills cost, because I'm from another country and I came from living with my mom who paid all the bills.…

VAT Debt
Hi, I owe just under £50K to HMRC. They have gone down the distraint route to recover the money. I've been told that the auctioneers will turn up next week to remove equipment and a van. I can't see that the goods will raise anything like what is owed. What I need to know is what do they do after the auction? Cheers

Cold callers from supposed DM companies
Grrrrr  Literally from the day I contacted the first creditor to discuss DMPs I have been plagued with calls from 'debt management' companies. There's three different ones so far, but they've made dozens of calls between them. Every one of them appears to be based in an Indian call centre and the caller is blatantly…

What to overpay and what to save?
Hi, I'm hoping some of you MSE'rs will be able to give me some advice on what you think I should be doing with my spare monthly income. Generally, my GF and I are fairly free of debt, however we do have a car loan and a mortgage. Our current situation is this: Average spare capital per £500 - £700 (although there may be…

How Do I Stop Mbna Phoning?
Since I put in my CCA I have been tortured, at least 4 calls per day. I have told them "I am not going to discuss anything over the telephone, anything you wish to say put it in writing, do not phone again" That lasted until the next day when some guy who sounded like he was from the depth of the Ganges phoned. I said look…
