Coolmum introducing herself!!

hiya all

well ive been lurking on here for a fair few months now and have made the odd post on a few threads but thought maybe the time had come to introduce myself properly as everyone seems so nice and its obvious some good friends are to made on here.

im a divorced mum of 2 ds's and my debt problems have probably always been there since i got with my ex 18 years ago, we divorced 5 years ago.

i work part time and am studying for an OU degree in Health and Social Care

i have been on a DMP with CCCS for 2 years now and this really has been a lifeline for me, although reading through all your threads has made me start the daily clicks and now look at ebay as a way of making a few extra quid and try if i can to bring my DFD forward if at all possible

i do try and shop as cheaply as i can and be as careful as i can but you know what its like the more careful you try and be the more the cash disappears lol

my budget is livable so im not going underwater but sometimes the thought of another 4.5 years in debt gets me down a bit but i know a lot of you are so much worse off than me so at least my debt is decreasing

anyway enough of my ramble just really wanted to say thanx to you all for giving me so much good advice even if you didnt know i was there reading it all :rotfl:

i really hope to give more to the forums now and will heopfully get to know all you lovely people a lot better from here on in

hi coolmum, welcome .. good luck to you..and all others on here trying to get outta debt... we all need it, but we can make the good luck by being positive..good to see that you aint going under, or no fear of going under, ok 4.5 yrs does seem like a long time, but most of us on here will be with you for that time, i know i will be for 4 x times that long, so for the 4.5 yrs you will be in good company, and even me saying that i will be still here in 18yrs, hopefully, by then, i will only have 1 major debt, the mortgage, the credit cards and silly phone contracts iv been mis-led in to having, will all be gone in the 1st 5yrs, .. so that i could start living a bit more again, but being careful this time around...it looks good on paper anyway ;)..once you start seeing the debts go down, it just adds that little bit of stressfreeness ha, if thats a word?..i always found it best to do meself a spreadsheet, with a bar chart, and and watch the big tower of red (owed)go down, while the little tower of green (paid)go up....anyway good luck to you. im now off 4 a chip buttie, as where a few months ago, id be getting ready to waste a few quid down the pub..... gawd blimey, i only meant to say hello and welcome, i got carried away......seeya ;).. dont forget, its better to be happy with what you have, rather than be unhappy with what you have not ;)

    afternoon all

right ive been lookin through my budget and and iam trimming bits off where i can and i just wondered if i could ask a question

at home there's me and 2 kids aged 13 and 10. we all take a packed lunch every day and i was wonderin how much you'd allow in the budget for food. the CCCS allow me £80 a week but after readin through a lot of the threads i think thats quite high so if i wanted to save on the food bill a bit would £50 sound ok or do you think i'd be hard pressed to manage on that?
