Big phone bill, I miscalculated, any ideas?

I got a big phonebill today. I have had 3 contracts with 02 (silly I know). Last month, as part of my "pull myself together and get my money and outgoings in order" time in preparation for moving house, I cancelled them and transferred to their Simplicity tarrif so I am not tied into anything. Anyway, I got the final bill today and it is double what I expected it to be, £320! So, I called 02 and explained that I haven't got that sort of money spare, and could I arrange to pay it back over a period of time, say 6 months. The advisor explained that the collections team don't work at weekends and I would have to speak to them about it, and to call back on Monday. No problem there. My question is, do you think they will let me, and, I have worked really hard to sort out my credit rating and I simply cannot afford to gain a new default, so would 02 put the account into defualt or not if I am paying it back and it hasn't been passed out to a debt collector? Sorry for going on a bit.
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

i work for o2 and they should let you have a payment plan, however they may bar you handset from outgoing calls as they won't want you to accrue any more debt while you paying this offThe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

it would probably show as late payments on credit file but as lit shouldn't defalut as long as you keep to the agreement made with them- they willbe able to give you all the infoThe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:
