Disputing a CCJ
I'm looking for some advice as to whether I can remove/set aside my CCJ. The reasons why I'm disputing this are as follows: - I received no summons - I was unable to attend court due to the above - I did not receive 28 days to pay Over a period of several years, I amassed a dept of around £700 with a water company. Due to…

Credit rating question
Hi. I'm carefully monitoring my credit report as I'm planning on getting a finance deal on a new car. A bit of background credit info: Despite that fact that I have closed an unused capital one card which had a limit of £800 and registering on the electoral roll it seems my score has gone down as the only credit card I…

Change of Address
Hiya, I am new to this forum, this question might have been answered before if it has apologies in advance. I have recently separated from my wife (will be filing for divorce soon). I have managed to get my names off all the joint utility bills and bank accounts and council tax. Have registered myself on the electoral list…

How long should I keep a credit card for?
How long should I keep a credit card for? Long term priority is increasing credit worthiness, at all costs. Increasing my credit limit is secondary. ie I'll do anything I need to now to make mortgages more accessible in three years. I've gained 51 points in a year, for what it means (742-793, see Check My File). In Feb…

Question about Electoral Roll/Register
My GF and I live together in a rented house as we couldn't quite get a house of our own this time last year. We're hoping not to be there much longer (our 1 year agreement is done and now on a rolling monthly contract). In an effort to keep our credit ratings in the best shape we could for when it came to mortgages, we…

Rejected twice in 2 months
Hi all, So I applied for the Luma credit card (4% cash back in supermarkets) back when it first came out, beginning of November-ish. To my surprise, I was rejected, despite having near perfect credit (multiple late payments on a credit card in late 2008/early 2009). No big deal, as I still had my Aqua card (3% cash back…

Credit Rating
Hi Guys I've just checked my Experian credit file and I'm VERY annoyed. It's the first time I've checked it in over a year and I was expecting my score to have gone up somewhat, since I've cleared 50% of one of my cards and totally cleared a fairly hefty Littlewoods account. Instead it's gone DOWN  thanks to a website…

CCJ dropped off Equifax slightly early
I have an old CCJ which was passed the 6 year mark on 29th January (13 days to go!). However I checked my Equifax report today and it has dropped off already. I guess they removed it because it was the start of the month in which it will end? Both Experian and Callcredit still show it though.

Default placed on file 10 months after issue of notice
Hi Around May of 2008 I was sent a notice of default letter in the post and told that if I did not take steps to pay off my overdraft a default would be placed on my credit file. I spoke with them and arranged monthly payments but in April of 2009 I received a letter from a debt collection agency telling me that the debt…

Capital One CCJ and some defaults
I have a Capital One CCJ on my credit file for just over £700, no one has pursued this debt since the CCJ was issued. I don't recall the time the CCJ was issued as i was at that moment in and out of hospital. It's been just over years to be precise 4 years and 2 months. If i pay it off now will this remain on my file for 6…

CallCredit (Noddle) Fundamental Breach of Data Protection Act 1998
Recent regulars to this section of MSE's forums will be aware of the ongoing dingdong I have going with Experian company representative. I singled Experian out for some special attention because I have proof of insecure handling of my personal data which has exposed me to successful ID Theft. I have also started a thread…

Life after DMP
Hi, I finished my DMP about 8 months ago and I am currently working on improving my credit rating with a credit card that I pay in full every month. I have a couple of questions that I am hoping someone can help me with: 1. If my partner and I set up a joint bank account, will his credit rating be adversely affected by…
