My stoozing has hit a new all-time low!!! I've recently stoozed over £30,000 which is now happily sitting in my flexi mortgage account. However - when I called the lender up to ask them how I could pay, they told me that I couldn't make a payment through the internet or phone - instead, I would have to mail a cheque in :o…

Credit Card Contractual Obligations
I recently read martin's book and was quite inspired to sort out my finances by tarting but hit a bit of a brick wall when egg only offered me a £500 limit. It's not great that you can't see what limit you will get until you have applied and I had no opportunity to tell them about potential part time jobs and student loans…

Evenin' all, I am fast approaching the end of my Halifax One 0% period. Oh no! Missed payment MBNA
I have been trying to educate my fiance about stoozing, and we have had £12,000 of interest-free credit-card cash in ISAs since March/April. Last month we had to transfer some balances, as you do, and as he had a £10k credit limit with MBNA he asked them if he could have a 0% deal. They gave him one until July. Great!…

£15,000 at 0% for 5 months from Egg
Which is the maximum credit limit possible? Answer: £15,000. Attention all Stoozers/Super-tarts To obtain the maximum, use the automated request feature at their online bank. You may do so as soon as you know your log-in details. Do not telephone. By requesting online it evades the use of a human to make the decision. One…

Egg Credit Card
I cancelled my egg credit card about 18-24 months ago, so that I could both maintain my credit score and re-apply for a 'new customer' 0% deal in the future. When I re-applied recently I was amaised to discover that my account was still valid!!!!!!! Has anyone else had this problem? How do you actually close an egg…

dangers of having too big a balance at 0%

Thanks Martin for this weeks money tips. I was most insterested in the article on whether to keep old credit cards and would like to ask the chat room if reducing the credit limit has the same effect as formally cancelling the card. Barclaycard 2.9% for life of balance!
I phoned barclaycard today and told them that I wanted to cancel my card as their rate was not competitive. :( The lady on the phone offered me another deal which is the best I have seen yet better than the mint and texaco offers. :D Basically if you transfer a balance to the card before the 9 November 2004 you are given…

Anybody know how CC companies pre select potential customers Do they use credit reference agencies and if so is it registered as a search with the agency. If the above is correct then presumably they dont bother to credit check again, when the pre-select application is sent back signed!!
