Joint account recommendations
Hi folks I wonder whether any of you would be kind enough to make recommendations for (or warn me off) particular joint accounts? My mother's health is failing and she's becoming increasingly reliant on my arranging goods and services for her. I've been happy to pay for these but it's a bit of a faff arranging…

I have a couple of questions. I currently bank with Halifax. I have 1 Halifax current account and 7 savings accounts attached to it. I’ve banked with them for maybe 4 years now. Today I received a text saying that after a review, a decision to close the account in 60 days has been made and that account facilities have been…

Budgeting Help for Dyslexic Girlfriend
Hi All, My girlfriend (22) and myself (24) are discussing moving in together, into a flat that I own and pay a mortgage on. My partner however is severely dyslexic and also has dyscalcula. This leaves her functionally illiterate on bad days, and means she lacks confidence when doing comparatively simple things such as…

USD insurance refund to a UK bank
I had an emergency procedure in a Jamaican hospital recently. Had to submit USD $11,000 (credit card) as a 'holding fee' whilst agreement was sought from my travel insurer to cover all costs. This was done, but returning to UK I've discovered that the hospital presented the c/c transaction for payment - it's now sitting on…

Blackmail Suspicious Activity Account Closure Barclays
Hi I had a Barclays business account since early 2017. The business was completely legal (in fact, at one point I was contracting daily as a solicitor). There was at least 100k cash at all times in the account. Even now, there is about 110k in the account. Today, they tell me they closed my accounts effective immediately.…

On behalf of a friend - she is very good with budgeting etc for her family with 2 children but her husband is not and this has led to her bailing him out on many occasions in many ways. Banks & Proof of Address...
Hi my people, I'm not too familiar with credit scores, reports, Equifaxes etc so I've got some questions for you. I'm struggling for proof of address documents and my roommate offered to attach me to a utility bill so I can get a PoA doc to open a bank account. I know some utility bills go on your credit report like gas,…

Santander security check for Elderly parent
Dear All, our mum is 83 and although living very independently an LPA being put in place is not appropriate at the moment. Following a brain operation 18 months ago she has become too trusting and nice! Following a bank phone fraud where she lost a large amount of money we investigated alternatives to invoking the LPA. A…

HSBC Advance - Deferring a Standing Order?
I have a monthly Standing Order coming out of my HSBC Advance current account. Next month only I wish to defer the payment to a later date in the month (or suspend it for one month and make a manual payment for that month instead). Is there a way to do this online that I haven't spotted, without deleting the SO altogether…

Opening new Bank Accounts to take advantage of switching bonus
Is this um, okay to do? Well it's plain to see a lot of the savvy people on here do. If I open 2 new bank accounts, I figure I can switch both to First and Natwest and claim £125+£125. Both accounts just really seem to need a deposit or minimum amount of x, which is fine by me.

Sole Trader joint business account
We have the opportunity of switching our business account(s) to other ring-fenced banks with incentives such as £1000. We chose Starling Bank however, they won't accept a JOINT application for a sole trader's business account, as we have now for RBS. Any idea why they've made that rule? Such a shame as we'll have to go…
