HSBC Advance - Deferring a Standing Order?

I have a monthly Standing Order coming out of my HSBC Advance current account. Next month only I wish to defer the payment to a later date in the month (or suspend it for one month and make a manual payment for that month instead).
Is there a way to do this online that I haven't spotted, without deleting the SO altogether and then re-creating it next month?
I thought about editing the amount to £0.00, which would effectively disable the SO without deleting it, but I wondered if that would open up a whole can of worms?

I don’t think you can set a zero amount.
I think you would have to delete it and amend the first payment date on the new one0 -
I have a Lloyds current account and have several Standing Orders and I change these such things fairly often to suit my needs.
In their system you can do exactly what you would like to do - that is, to simply adjust the date which it goes out on.
The SO's are totally in your own control.0 -

Thanks for the reply. Yes, seems you can't enter a zero amount, so the only option is to cancel the SO completely.
Annoyingly, there doesn't seem to be any way to display the destination account number and sort code for the existing SO, so I'll have to rummage around in my paperwork to find them again next month.
I might give them a call tomorrow and see if they can do what I want manually, but I prefer to do things online when possible as it avoids the possibility of human error creeping in.0 -
HSBC online banking seems a bit primitive.
With Lloyds I can see sort code and account number and can edit the standing order to change everything including payment date and amount.
Are you sure that you are talking about a standing order and not a direct debit?0 -
Is it really not possible to wait until this month's payment has gone out, then alter the STO date to the new (but temporary) date for next month, and then alter it back again immediately after the deferred payment has gone out?0

Definitely a Standing Order, going to my Ipswich Building Society Regular Saver.Terry_Towelling wrote: »Is it really not possible to wait until this month's payment has gone out, then alter the STO date to the new (but temporary) date for next month, and then alter it back again immediately after the deferred payment has gone out?0 -
Change it to a £1 ? then change it back again.0

I've decided to just cancel the SO. I'll make next month's payment manually, then create a new SO after that.
Quite surprised by this limitation on HSBC online banking, and it's irritating that the account number and sort code are hidden on the existing SO. I wanted to copy and paste them into a text file to ensure I set it up correctly next month. I'll now have to re-key the details, opening up the possibility of typos.0 -

That annoyed me when I was with First Direct.0
